I would like to make my Queso dip when I come
can I get Velveeta or some type of Yellow cheese?
Also looking for Habenero or Jalepeno peppers or similiar
what about Tortila chips?
Should I bring my own Salsa as in some of the
JoeT.Garcia's?

I'm not sure about Velveeta, but the island has plenty of Gouda. Bonairean food is not hot, but I believe that you can get medium hot peppers at the waterside fruit/veggie kiosk or at the warehouse market. If you are flying to Bonaire without staying over in Puerto Rico you should be able to carry your own Hab's down with you. A big block of Velveeta would add a bit of weight to your luggage though. They do have jars of salsa available on the island, I think I have seen Pace's in one or more of the markets. I am taking a bottle each of Yucatan Sunshine and La Extra Hab. sauce down with me next time and giving what's left to Jake along with his own bottle of each. Y.S is not particularly hot, but I like the flavor.

Oops, they do have T. chips on the island. Don't take your own as the package will overinflate and leak the air out in your luggage, even in your carryon, and you will end up with T. crumbs. I don't remember seeing tortillas in the markets, so you might want to take down packages of your favorite kind. T.'s do freeze well.

Last March when we were there there were fresh habeneros in the warehouse. I always take a few jalepenos with me. Bonaire food shopping is interesting. You never know what you are going to find. The rule is if you see something you want, buy it now because it won't be there tomorrow.

Corney Ann is so right about the "buy it today" rule for Bonaire grocery shopping. The other thing I try to do is not go into the store with a firm list but try to plan meals around what I find as I forage through the various markets. I actually enjoy the adventure!

You can generally get flour tortilles either at Cultimara or Tropical Flamingo, sometimes just refridgerated, sometimes frozen. The corn tortilles have been frozen in large stacks.

Everybody seems to have started carrying some kind of salsa - El Paso, Pace, Tostitos, and some misc. brands.

Tortilla chips are much trickier. We grab them when we see them. An importer friend had a shipment of tostitos come in and we bought a case.

I would not count on finding Velvetta or CheeseWhiz. Although I have seen both at times, it has never been consistent and I haven't seen any recently. Most of the time Cultimara has Kraft Shredded cheeses.

Carole, Ever since the mullet-ectomy, the CheeseMeister has not been heard from often. Maybe his new job (the reason for the loss of the mullet) keeps him busy....

We miss you CheeseMeister!!

Back to the topic, sort of, is Pimms available on Bonaire or shall I carry my own?

For so long I got absolutely no respect because of my deep regard for Velveeta "The KING of Processed Cheese Like Stuff" and now all the sudden people miss me. I'm so touched. Cheeseman is well.....just working hard and traveling a bit. I don't think you will find velveeta on Bonaire but I did make Macaroni and Gouda when we were there and beside some physical body effects (I ate too much of it and you can all figure that out), it was excellent. Cheese and out
