I was wondering if any one could tell me what the Marine Park tag cost per person? I understand it is good for a year and you need it to either snorkel or dive in any of the sites in the park. What areas are not considered in the park? Also can one snorkel anywhere without restrictions such as in front of resorts restaurants etc. I am used to areas where all beachfront is considered public ( not the facilities provided by dive operators or resorts though as I realize one should pay for that). What is the current price of gas on the island? And finally any problems using a moped to travel through Washington-Slagbaai Park?

Marine Park tag is US$ 10 per person per calendar year. Only Scuba divers are required to purchase a tag.

Everything from the high tide mark to 200 feet below water is in the Marine Park including the mangroves and many of the salinas.

Most beaches are public. However, you may not cross private property to get to a public beach therefore making some areas unreachable. If you would like to enter the water via resort, you should check with that resort about their policy. It runs the gambit from no entry, paid entry, pay only if you use the facilities, to go and have a good time. Of course, you can always float on by in the water.

Yesterday, I filled up for Nafl 1.669 per liter for Super. Local prices have risen about nafl .20 in the last couple months. US$1 equals Nafl 1.75

I just checked out the rules on mopeds. Only 4 wheeled vehicles with a spare are allowed.

You can do an organized bicycle ride with an adventurer tour operator since they provide a follow van with spares.

Linda,

Thanks very much for the info. I wasn't sure if the marine park covered bot east and west sides of the island. Gas is approximately $3.70 a gallon , not bad compared to other places and we in Alabama are catching up , close to $2 a gallon here. While I do dive I enjoy drift snorkeling on non dive days and often times would do a 5 to 8 mile snorkel and wanted to make sure I wasn't violating any property rules by drifting by various resorts or operations.
