Do most of the restaurants on Bonaire take credit cards? Are there any popular places that DON'T? Is cash a better way to go for dinning?

Oh, and one other thing. Just how do you pronounce "Kralendijk"?

By the way, we've "only" got 125 days to go until our first trip to Bonaire!!!

Thanks,
Richard

Larger/Resort restaurants take CC's, not all though-mostly Visa & MC, some take Amex, some don't. More local style places, like Maiky Snack take only cash-US$ or NA fls (Netherlands Antilles Florins-our money). I'm not sure about Gibi's or Bobbejan's, but if I guessed, I'd say they don't take credit cards. ATM machines here give you a choice of receiving either $ & Fls. The $/Fls exchange rate is fixed, because Fls are based on the $, so no fluctuating.

"Kralendijk" is pronounced "pli ah"
"Playa" is what locals call our city, whose official name is Kralendijk-kral en dike.

Wow Ruth.....I've been twice in just over a year and never knew i could get by without struggling thru Kralendijk. Had I known it was beach in spanish, I'd have been talking Playa all over the place.
Good fact

Yeah, "Kralendijk" (coral dike) is not exactly a pretty word, though town is neither a coral dike nor a beach, so go figure. However, "Kralendijk" has become useful for at least Fedex. Apparently it's unique enough to be our identifier, and has stopped my packages from taking world tours via Amsterdam and Borneo.......

Funny Ruth, you mention Borneo,...
The way we discovered about Bonaire is from 2 antillian guys from Bon who play softball in our team. When the first guy came for the first time, the coach had misunderstood him on the phone, and thought he was from Borneo. We thought that was very strange, for we never heard about baseball or softball being played in Indonesia!
