Happy Nurses's Day to all divers who are nurses. Sue(me), Jan (ANP from N.C.), Liz, anyone else? Anyone else in the International Society of Nursing?

Sue,

Thanks so much, back to you!!! Can you believe the place where I working is celebrating there 10 year anniverary this week. They are having a grand party for professionals and doctors today (I worked 11-7 last night...yawn!) Nurses aren't invited...funny...I thought we were considered "professional" too! All we got was a pen and an anecdotal book...Oh well, no wonder why no one wants to get into the business anymore!

As much as I love nursing, I CANNOT wait to leave burn out and head to Bonaire!

Liz

Hi Sue and Liz! Happy Days to you both today! Liz, since I'm a rebel, I'd probably just show up, uninvited, to the party. And say, "well I thought 'professional' included me, where's the beer and buffet line?"

Well like I always say about nursing, if it was not for the hours, the pay and the respect it would be a great job. I say this from some experience, I've twice married a nurse and my only sister is one. They deserve better than they get.

Here here to Cecil's comment (not about the 2 wives) but to the fact that they deserve better than they get...get this, the nurses in ICU at the University of Puerto Rico, Carolina Puerto Rico make a whooping $9.30 an hour...and that's the best pay for nurses in that hospital...
