Anyone do much star gazing while on Bonaire? I would think given it's location it would be an excellent place to use a telescope to do some moon, planet and Star watching in spots away from town

John, the star gazing is awesome on Bonaire. The air is very clear and dry and once when we were away from the cities all of the arms of the Milky Way were clearly visible.

We drive south, down toward Pink Beach to get away from the lights of the settled areas. on our own back porch the stars are way more numerous than at home, but south where it's really dark, it's amazing. Take a star guide with you. I know some of the constellations from the northern latitudes, but there are lots I don't know from 10 degrees north.

Pick up the"Bonaire Reporter" an American newpaper while on Bonaire or go on-line for a sample. They have a wonderful article(page) on the stars and "what's up" in Bonaire weekly.
We go south or just look up when were in the jacuzzie at the villa. I've seen the Southern Cross from there. Shooting stars to wish on too.
Never thought of Seru Largu. It must be awsome from there. The views in the day are beautiful.

We've seen planets from Bonaire especially when eating @ Richards. We'll have to bring our telescope to our house. In N.J., the winter sky is the best, but it's so cold @ night.

John, last year, when Mars was in close proximity we were in Bonaire. It was awesome. Especially when there was a power failure on the north part of the island. I swear it grew two sizes and few magnitudes of brightness.
