The cabinet of the Netherlands Antilles resigned yesterday. I wonder what will happpen. Will the other parties try 2 create a new government without the FOL or will new elections have to be held?
Any opinions on this. From here (the Netherlands) a government without the FOL (with or without elections) looks better 4 the islands, but I'm not sure if locals will agree. The Godett-family and the people around them seem to be corrupt, but this might be the way the news is brought 2 us in the Netherlands. I guess the FOL wasn't good for Bonaire anyway?
Any local view appreciated.

In fact the cabinet did not resign. The coalition partners stepped back because they no longer had faith in Mr. Komproe, a Fol politician and minister of justice
Mr. Komproe has shown over the past couple of month that he is totally incapable of beiing a minister. The coalition partners wanted Mr. Komproe to step back. He (Fol) refused. So the coalition lost majority.
Now the prime minister should have resigned but I guess she does not understand these procedures.
To use a little understatement. Having lived on Bonaire for 12 years now I consider myself pretty local at least as far as understanding politics is concerned . I think the falling of this coalition is a blessing for the Antilles. This government has achieved nothing in a year and would have achieved nothing in the coming 3 years.
Wrong ; they (Fol) succeeded in totally destroying the relation between the Antilles en the Netherlands.
But there is also some positive news. A couple of months ago a couple of serious people established a new political party on Curacao. I know a few of these people by name or reputation. I have a good feeling about this and I know that a lot of people in the Antilles feel the same.
Shouting, insulting and swearing should stop and I hope this new party will get a chance in case of new elections.

Jan,
on the news over here on wednesday morning they said Ms. Godett did resign tuesday night. Was the news wrong?
I agree about the relationship with the Netherlands: FOL has succesfully destroyed any confidence people over here were having in the future of the Antilles. More and more people over here are asking for the government to drop all relations with the Antilles. I don't think this would be a good thing, but maybe I'm wrong.
The new party sounds great. I do hope there will be some major changes in the near future. Is the party a Curacao-based and oriented party? I do hope the smaller islands will get more attention in the future!

Igor
Yes the news was wrong. In yesterdays paper it said that Mr. komproe did not resign but in fact he will be fired since yesterday a petition passed in the Staten (what is that in english?) stating that the majority no longer trusted Komproe and as a result of that he will be fired by the governer. Anthony Godett said that the Fol ministers including Maurice Adriaans will resign.
But this all happened yesterday. You know that Godett is a master in changing his views by the hour and saying a and doing b.
You know I like to go to the circus and enjoy the clowns. But if you see circus every day you don't enjoy the clowns any more.

Next step is that there will be an attempt to form a new coalition. If this does not work ; elections.
The founder of this new party is Mr. Navarro. He is a well respected lawyer on Curacao.
