Hi everyone. Our group of 16 from Florida is coming to Bonaire in August. I've already told everyone to be prepared to set their watches ahead by one hour, but I may have spoken too soon.
Does Bonaire follow daylight savings time like we do in the US? If not, then there will be no time change for us. Thanks, Robyn

Dear Robyn,
As soon as we change to daylight savings time we will be on thier time. I don't think they change time ever.

Christine

Bonaire is on Atlantic Standard Time, one hour ahead of Eastern Standard Time and the same as Eastern Daylight Time.

We will finally be back in "sinc" with the webcams in a short while once the US goes onto Daylight Savings Time....the Eastern portion of the US, at least! Yay!!! Carole

My folks fly out from BWI on the switch over day to join us (we get there this Wed) does Jamaica change over? Will their flight leave BWI in time for them to make the connection is my real question/concern. :-)

We don't need to "save" time here, because we're almost on the equator--meaning our days/nights are pretty much equal all year. Daylight varies only from about 6:15am-6:30pm, to 7am-7:15pm. I'm looking forward to next Sunday, because I'm tired of staying up until 12:35am to watch Leno & Letterman. Europe has already changed (as of yesterday) their clocks.

Jamaica always confuses me when we travel thru MB....they are on a different time zone than us...one hour ahead, I think, but I don't recall if they observe daylight savings time or not! LOL. Very confusing. I know the layover in MB looks like less time on paper to us than it really is because of the time changes. If you can follow what I am trying to say!! LOL!!! Carole

Me too--I've never figured out what time zone it is in Jamaica (I think they make it up as they go along). Sometimes it looks like you've got only 30 minutes (which would be enough time if flights are on time--place is small), when in fact you have 1 hour and 30 minutes. Just ask when you arrive in Mo'bay.

I always have to look that one up.
Jamaica is always Eastern Standard Time and does not observe Daylight Savings.

So Bonaire is always one hour off from Jamaica because we are Atlantic Standard Time, no daylight savings time either.

Jamaica matches east coast US during the winter.
Bonaire matches east coast US during the summer.
