OK I am in Wisconsin, the temp is supposed to be down under zero tonight....is it possible I was in Bonaire first full week of December - that LONG ago already? Can someone bottle me up some sand, sea water, and warm temps and sunshine with breezes and do FedEx overnight PLEASE!!!!!!

Sobbing in my beer (actually it's too damn cold to drink beer, hot cocoa with peppermint schnapps in it is more like it!)
Ginni in WI

We're suffering too--it was chilly last night; the thermometer hanging on my palm tree in my backyard was registering only in the 70's! (but it's back in the 80's already today...)
;-)

Ruth,
I assume you LIVE in Bonaire, you rat you?! <g> How about a house exchange for a few weeks? I will start packing okay?! :>) Just checked the weather report here and the official reading is minus 1 degree (Farenheit!). Dogs didn't stay out very long this am!

Chet, Where in northern Illinois do you live? I am just south of Madison WI. When I was in Bon in Dec the Woodwind day trip and then night snorkel guided trip with Dee for latter - both times a very delightful funny IL couple around 60ish were along. I think they said they lived near Schaumburg or something. I forget their names, they were just a hoot!

OK Ruth, keep teasing me.......sniff sniff.....
Ginni in WI going back to snuggle under the comforters in bed with the electric mattress pad ON and maybe two or three dogs will snuggle with and I KNOW the Dobe will be UNDER the covers with me LOL!

Ruth, Poor woman! Sure hope you had insulated pajamas with the feet in them. Up here our ladies consider them l-l-l-l-lingerie:-{o}

Temperature here is up to -2, predicted to reach a balmy +10 today. I do not care. I just finished packing, bags are by the door and I hope not to go outside until the Taxi Driver honks his/her horn at 4:45 tomorrow morning.

Will be at Mangos this week hope you folks will have some fresh tuna -mmmmmmmm.

Chet, Good idea. Could not make a snowball out of our snow right now, too icy.

Benefit of it being this cold - no need to use the freezer. Just put groceries on the porch.

Tom

Ginni,
We gotta be almost neighbors, we're in Ft. Atkinson. Have been packing on and off all weekend in 13 days we'll be enjoying all the beauty of Bonaire! Our 2nd trip and hoping it's as wonderful as the 1st.

At least the sun is shinning today - that helps a little bit.

Sandy

Mark,
Do you want to be added to the Feb/Mar list. Let me know your dates, and if you don't mind, where your staying. Also, do you ever do the Three Little Devils' "Trash & Treasure" dive at Devil's Lake in September? We've been going every year for the last 10.

Chet,

Don't usually go to Devils Lake, go over to Lake Michigan for wreck dives
and Lake Owen over the 4th of July.

Sure you can add us to list, Feb 28 thru March 10, Belmar Apts.

Mark

Yup, been here since 1990. Does it make anyone feel any better to know that I was really cold while snorkeling yesterday? I dunno for sure, but I think the water temp. is only around 84. Normally I wouldn't even go in the water from Dec-Feb....only tourists do that!

Also, it's rained a bit this morning and the thermometer reads 74. Hope this makes you all feel better to know that we suffer too.

Ginny, thanks for the house-trade offer...but it sounds like you could just move in to our guest apt. in exchange for working in our walk-in freezer (can you lift a 40lb case of frozen chicken?). You probably wouldn't even need a coat!

Ruth,
40 degrees? Up here in winter IF it gets that warm it is called a heat wave and I would not be the only one out running in shorts and a T shirt! <g>
Will pass on the 40 lbs of frozen chicken though thanks for the job offer! <g> Don't have the best back in the world........so snorkeling is "hydrotherapy" don't you know?! <g>

ONE CHICKEN LOO HOO? You gotta be kidding me.
Don't you have to carry a 200 # man fifty yards, ride a bike for three miles and swim...oh wait, never mind, I'm confusing firefighting, triathalons, and the Coast Guard.

I'm guessing that a case is ten chickens.

I'm chicken... :-)

We had a fellow from Los Angeles here in MA for a training class last week. Poor fellow was in misery with our 40 degree temps, kept moaning about how arctic it was. We kept telling him it was a heat wave, and what was he going to do when it really got cold?! He stayed over the weekend, and the temps dropped to single digits over Sunday. Dunno if he ever showed himself out of his hotel after that, poor guy... He got no sympathy whatsoever from any of us, of course! Kind of what Ruth's getting here... :-)

Hey, don't dis the chickens! BTW, it's 80 & brilliantly sunny already, and it's only 8:15... You'll also be happy to know that I'll be in New Orleans next week, and the temps there have been in the 60's/day & 40's/night, AND, I just realized that I have only 2 pairs of pants that go to the ground (not capri's). I'll have to dig out some socks from somewhere too. Ugh.
;-)

Uh, no--helloooo--Sunday 2/22 is Karnaval Sunday here--big parade & parties in town till 8pm--it's one of my busiest days of the year, so I'll be at KFC (until 9pm, when the final episode of Sex in the City airs, then I'll be at home, in front of my 43" screen TV). If the snowball makes it as far as Bonaire, it can make it to KFC!

You are talking about the Hostess pink marshmellow covered snowballs, with coconut shavings & chocolate cake & cream inside, right?.....
;-)

Ruth, don't forget to take your fuzzy slippers to Na'wleens:-)

Faith, this last weekend at Kelly's in Ahia, I loved the cold...I'm always hot, and I was walking around the house in a t-shirt and she and her daughter were both freezing...I wanted the window rolled down while we were drivng down the highway...I'm not sure if she's ever inviting me back!

Ruth,

Will Carrie and Big get back together forever?? We actually discussed how we'd be missing the final episode ourselves while down there...

We *do* have On-demand with our cable service so at least we can watch it as soon as we get home... but it was a topic of discussion when the trip was being planned. Sad, huh?

Ruth,
If it is, it will at least be frozen. I didn't know they still made those things; it's been a long - long time since I've peeled the covering off one of those to eat first.

Susan, Why would you have to miss it here? We have HBO, it's channel 5, just one hour later-9pm instead of 8pm. Now, if you're staying someplace where there's no TV, then, ...why?! I'm going to miss that show very much-and I hope she does get back w/Big (in NYC-jeez, Paris-UGH!). It would be awful if they kill off Samantha & leave Carrie in Paris--can you imagine? Boy, if CBS thought they screwed up w/Justin, Janet and the Boobie, wait till HBO hears from the world if they do something nasty to the SitC ending!

And Chet...if you have an old Hostess snowball in the back of a cupboard, it'll be fine--I think they're like Twinkee's--they never go bad.

Cynde, I'm taking my dancing shoes to Nawlins-I'll sleep when I get back to Bonaire!

We don't have HBO, but SitC would be the only reason we would get it...I've rented the videos of the seasons but it's so late no one wants to talk about it!

Ruth, you will need those fuzzy slippers for the tootsie comfort after your dancin' frenzy:-)

Oh Boy!

We should have a TV - we'll be at Habitat in a Deluxe Jr Suite. We'll have to make sure to head back in time to catch it though!

Oh, killing Samantha would be horrible! Especially since she's found such a great guy in Smith. And Carrie in Paris was just WRONG! I wonder if Charlotte will be happy with puppies, or will she end up getting pregnant despite all the odds?

:-) :-) :-)

We're obsessed!!!!

Are you going to have a 'Last Sex in the City' party at Mangoes??? Last time I was there (before Mangoes-- I won't say the name) there was a large TV up in a front corner.

Actually, twinkies and the like have a very short lifespan during which they taste like they oughta. Older twinkies should simply be deep fried.

Mango's does have a TV at the bar, and I'm sure it'd be no problem to see the first hour of SitC, from 9-10pm, but you'd have to be drinking a lot to keep the place open for the 2nd hour of the final episode (remember, it's 2 hours this Sunday); after what I know will be my long day, I just wanna be in my TV chair, in the a/c. And, it's my husband's birthday too, which we will have started to celebrate from midnight Saturday (birthdays here are celebrated like New Year's-starting at 00:00, so as to have the full 24 hrs to celebrate)...... parties here are not for amateurs!

ps--Seb, I'm the last one you need to convice about frying--everything is better fried! ;-)

FYI Glen, Mango's closes at 10pm....it would be incredibly unfair to ask my staff to work overtime on Karnaval Sunday, which is also the eve of another holiday, Karnaval Monday, unless there were enough clients to justify it. We do stay open later on many occasions to accomodate late arrivals, but by 10pm, the girls have worked 8 hours, and they're tired (and they have to come back to work the next day). I have to be dedicated to them too. ;-)
