I am going to bonaire on January 2nd. Is there good dolphin sightings? And are there any sharks?

Claire, drop to the bottom of this thread and click on 'keyword search'. Do searches for 'dolphins' and 'sharks' on the 'diving and snorkeling' thread and you will find lots of references to both. Ignore the archived threads, there are enough that are current to go through anyway.

In one month you will be a Bonaire addict along with the rest of us. Scan thru the trip reports and meet some of the recent converts.

We saw a pod of dolphins week before last in Curacao and we were all set to snorkel with them before going to the dive site. However a plonker of a Dive Instructor who had a group staying at the resort arrived late and we turned back to pick him up. When we got back the dolphins had gone, his excuse was that he was resting after a 200 foot dive to the sand in the morning. We did see the black tip reef sharks at the Northern dive sites in Bonaire last week and a grey reef shark on another north site, can't remember which as I have not unpacked and found the dive logs yet. There is a lot of activity with many bait fish schools and Wahoo and Marlin are driving the bait balls to the surface so it should be a good time to see dolphins. Take a minimum of a 3mm full wetsuit as we had cold currents - water temp was 83C and dropped to 81C by the end of the week.

When you find your dive logs, what were the names of the dive sites in the North? I'm going to be there next week and I want to check them out. Were they all boat dives? Can they be accessed from the beach?
