Unbelievable! I just caught a glimpse of the tv my daughter was watching, and it was showing a dog diving! It had one of those "bubble" breathers on it's head, and it was doing the "doggie paddle", underwater. Just think, I might not have to leave my puppy at home next time. Too bizarre!!

I did see something about a guy that his dog dives with him. Same type of setup as you are referring to. Sounds like you really need a family trip back to Bonaire.......February 16th?

Linda, indeed this guy takes his dog diving with him. the dog would always jump in the water when he was diving so he rigged the gear up for him. I will email you a pic i have of it at work tomorrow if I remember!

Kay, sounds like a plan. E-mail him, privately, and tell him how I can't wait to go diving again. It would be a great birthday present! Thanks, Linda

Wasn't the dog's name Benji? Mac??? They used to be on TV all the time, but I have not seen them in ages. Same duo? Does the dog (little shaggy type of puppy) wear the plastic bubble-type gear? I wonder if it is the same duo? Or, is there an "new" diving doggie?? Precious. Must be the same ones....I wonder what happened to them?? Hope the doggie hasn't moved on to doggie heaven already.....Carole

Carole, I just caught a glimpse of this dog, but it wasn't a little shaggy one. It was a medium size dog, short hair. Linda

Cynde Lee, That is so cute! I wonder if he's the only one around? I've seen people in Hawaii(on tv) with that bubble enclosure, and you just breathe normally. My puppy would need a smaller one. He's about 11 lbs! Linda

Cute as a button! That's not the dog I used to see on TV, so this must be a "new" diver! The other fella was a little shaggy guy who always wore a bandana around his neck....loosely, of course. Adorable. Carole

Did anybody notice that that dog looks an awful lot like our Blikje? She is a snorkel dog. I bet it really is a new breed and not just a mutt.

I can't help but think it must drive the doggy nuts not to be able to go up and bite or sniff things, though - I can invision him banging his bubble against things right and left

So, with the bubble, he can't be a dog snapper! :–)

Linda, it does look like Blikje! I never noticed! And yes Glen, the reef would be safe from dog bites!

Seen it before. When I was certified in '91(dang, has it been that long?), the owner of the dive shop had two golden retreivers that did the dive thing. I didn't get to see them in action, but the owner had photos plastered all over the shop.

I've seen this before with a couple of different dogs. This one looks like a blue heeler (Australian Cattle Dog) I use to have one.
