Finally got my new mask for small faces.. it's a Mares Target in blue (so it matches my snorkel).. phew! I had to test it in the bath.. works well.. moved up and down bath trying to create waves..mmmmm Seems OK though.. good choice for those of you that have a smaller than average face like me:) S.

Sarah,
I had to laugh-- not at you-- but I also have gone thru the same thing-- Did you also but a smaller mouthpieced snorkle? I have a very hard time with eyeglasses-- find myself trying on kids glasses----------

Hm, I have a friend with a really narrow face who can never find a mask that fits her -- I'll have to point her at the Target (um, so to speak :)

Thanks for the pointer!
Faith

My mom can sympathize with you. She is a size 5 US . She is always amused when she finds size 5 shoes with 3 inch or more heels - more like a ballerina on point than shoes. She is convinced that they make one pair of shoes in the little sizes and all the rest are size 7, 8, or 9.

Jake is on the other end. He asks if they make the shoe in size 13. He usually gets offered sneakers as the only option.

Linda,
Always seemed to have luck in Marshalls or Filene's Basement--Then the Premium Outlets opened in Wrentham, Ma-- Must have over a dozen or so shoe stores with plenty of small sizes- A must place to shop when you are back home in N.H.
How's Jakes shoulder doing-- Took me about a year before I was back in the full swing of things -- feels good to be back at the gym lifting at my old weight level. And your knee? Need to stay off hte slopes for awhile?

If it were only a matter of getting size 13s I'd probably manage, but I also need them to be EEE (extra-wide). Sigh.

Jake

I once worked with a woman who was 5'11" (or so she said - it's very possible she just didn't want to admit to that extra inch that would have put her into the "giantess" zone :) ) and had size 5 1/2 feet. She also was a bit "top-heavy".

She'd minored at college in dance, and was actually quite graceful - considering how much she was balancing on such tiny feet, quite amazing.

Jake
Have you considered a Blacksmith to fit you? Ask Bajou-maybe she can give you his number!

Jan,
When I was a kid, we use to hit the real factory outlet stores in Manchester, NH. Back when factory outlet meant a store at the factory itself. Thank heavens since I was a size 4 for about a year and a half. I thought my feet would never grow. Now I'm at a very easy 7.5.

Jake's shoulder is going to keep him high and dry for months to come. In another week, we let him out of the immobilizer. Diving maybe in 4-5 months. He may get to drive a car in January. But if he behaves and doesn't reinjure the shoulder he should be 100% after all is done.

Jake, I can empathise with you. I also wear a size thirteen and need the wider widths. Shopping for shoes is a pain, it is nearly impossible to find a style that you like (as they have in the smaller sizes) in our size. Even booties for my fins was a difficult find.

Try being a 5 triple wide. I have to buy boys or nurses shoes. I have given up on pretty shoes, they all hurt!!!

Let's put it this way. My mask came with fishy stickers. The skirt on it split a couple weeks ago while on Bonaire. I have a Tusa Little Kleio on my Christmas list which my favorite dive shop owner says his 5 year old loves. Happy diving!

this thread has really made me smile!!! BTers are so down to earth, discussing shoe size! mask size: OK... shoe size.. Ha! By the way I am 5 to 51/2 also. And I remember when outlets REALLY were outlets. when my son got certified at 12 yrs of age in Maine in January we could not find a wet suit small enough for him. We ended up using duct tape around his wrists and ankles !! Cute pictures, looking back. But then after he dove in Bonaire he refuses to dive in cold water again :-)
