Dear BTers,
My wife daughter and I will be on the island from 12/26-1/5 if anyone wants to get together.

My daughter and I are still looking for some dive partners. She was just certified, I've done about 15 dives. We'll have transportation and would love to hook up for some relaxed dives.

We normally have a New Year's Day party at our house each year to which all BonaireTalkers on-island at the time are invited. However, with my arm in a sling, I can't quite be the host I normally am during this event (i.e. prepping lots of food, procuring lots of libations, ice, washing dishes, etc.).

That said, if folks are interested in doing more of a equal potluck thing with a bit of help cleaning up afterwards, on the afternoon/evening of January 1st, we'd be happy to have it happen at our place (and you can also dive the ReefCam earlier in the day from our beach if you'd like). (Mark - consider this a notice of a slight change of plans :-) ).

If anyone's interested in doing this, post a note here.

Jake

Oh Jake....Wish I could be there. I would offer to do all the cooking and cleaning. I guess this New Years will be via web cam. But will be there in February.

What size wetsuit does your daughter or son wear? I have one that my daughter quickly grew out of. If not for them I'll bring it for a child on the island in February.

Jake, we'll be there, just buy us tickets, take care of our transportation and housing, and we will take care of preparing the meals, creating an true Cristmas-like environemt in your back yard, cleaning up afterwards, do all the dishes and walk the dogs (all three of them)

Kay - I think they are 4T (Bas) and 6T (Yana), but in any event, we can find some deserving kid here on Bonaire who would be delighted with the suit (both of ours already have ones that currently fit).

Martin - nice try - you'll just have to wait until late April :-)

Jake - Just let us know how we can help. I will have to strong 18 year olds that will be willing to lend hand and of course we know where to buy the food.

Since this potluck then we can bring and make some of our favorites. If I bring something down that requires to stay frozen will you guys have the space?

Mark

Andy - it would be great to get together with a fellow "Badger". We are staying at Captain Don's. This will be my first major trip.

How old is your daughter? I have 2 18 year olds coming down.

Mark,
My daughter is 14....may work out. Do you have a son or daughter? Let's try and get together and do some diving or hiking. My wife doesn't dive so non diving activity needs to be balanced with dives. Coming to Madison for any reason in the next few weeks?

BTW: Your email address keeps bouncing back at me.

We'll be there from the 22nd to the 30th, then off to Aruba until the 5th. What would be a good spot for a Christmas dinner?

Kelly, where are you staying in Aruba? We have a timeshare at the Divi Village (the original 3 story building) but don't use it any longer...we tack it onto the week we bought at the Divi Flamingo Beach Resort in Bonaire. We haven't been back to Aruba since we discovered Bonaire! (last trip to Aruba was 1998). Have you been to Aruba before? Carole

Carole,

We are actually staying at Divi Village w/ RCI. We swapped our time on Kauai for this place.

I've never been to the Carribean before, so I'm really looking forward to it.. My wife and I are planning our next trip in springtime and we're looking at Honduras.

We are looking forward to coming December 29-January 12. We are not divers (yet), but love to snorkel. Perhaps we can meet up with someone for a tour. We are planning to rent a car to do some shore trips, too. Any takers?? We'll be at the Divi.

Hi Sheila, My husband and I will also be at the Divi for part of your stay. We will arrive January 5th till the 16th. We only snorkel as well and highly recomend sailing on the Woodwind. Renee's guided tours sail right out of the Divi and they are awesome. We usually sail with her every morning. We will have to set up a time to meet! By the way, we are sorda neighbors. We live in Massachusetts.

Darlene,
Thanks for the response! We are first-timers, but we have been reading all of great threads for months. I feel as if I've already been there (almost), especially with Andy's great literary gems. I've seen a lot of positive comments about the Woodwind, so perhaps we'll give it a try. We are transplants from Wisconsin, new to NY and the Northeast just a couple of months ago.
We just can't wait until our trip! I'm sure we will be waterlogged by the time we leave beautiful Bonaire. Perhaps we'll meet at the Divi or in the water sometime. Sheila

Sheila - When and where did you move from Wisconsin? It's too bad Wisconsin won't be going to a bowl game we could have gotten together on the 1st and cheered them.

Thanks for the "invite", Annie...wish we could be there but, alas, we will be landlocked here in New Jersey until May. You will have a great time, I'm sure! Photos of the occasion are now being requested and posted, OK? Wish we could be there. What is the King of the Caribbean Dinner? Sounds interesting. Carole

It's not a dinner, Carole..just a little cocktail munchie thing to reunite the Cape Cod crew and the Bonaire Kids who came to our event..also to kick off the King of the Caribbean event that we HOPE to hold Dec. 2002.

May will be here before you know it..HUGS

Look for us Christmas Eve or Christmas Day in the AM at the cam...there are over 15 going ...but NOT all at the cam..too much commotion for the doggies

Mark,
Rich and I moved from the Milwaukee area, Waterford to be exact. It's in NW Racine County. Rich just completed his PhD in Inorganic Chemistry at UW-Milwaukee. I worked at St. Luke's as a Medical Technologist.
We actually met a couple from Waterford when we were in Cozumel 2 years ago-weird.
About the Bowl Game...it's too bad the Badgers aren't so hot this year. Guess I'll spend most of the Bowl Days in the water (not a bad consolation). Maybe next year....?
See you in the water,
Sheila and Rich Hartmann
