Sorry if this has already been discussed elsewhere. Can anyone comment on Bonaire in August? What are the plusses and/or minusses of going in August vs. June or March? Which of those three months would you choose and why? Thanks so much, I really appreciate all the information I'm getting from these boards.

Mermaid

You may catch some coral spawning in August 2004 or more spawning in September 2004. It roughly should be the first week of each month as the full moon is very late in the month next year.

We go every year in February and August. Both are great. There is no great difference. June and August would be cheaper because it is off season, high season being Dec 15 to April 15. If you have any questions please feel free to e-mail us directly. We love talking about Bonaire.

Have done both - not much difference in weather, maybe a bit warmer in aug; Far less people, a few yrs ago had myself, my wife, boat capt and dm on the Sand Penny out of the old sand$ dive and photo and no one else. May be a better chance to dive the East side in Aug.

I've gone both Jan-March period and once in August. August was definitely hotter, much quieter (although Bonaire is never "busy"). Can't speak to June though. Bonaire is always great.

we were there last summer from june 30-august 15. we could tell the wind was dying near the end of the trip and it felt hotter. but then we were back at the end of november when it rained a lot and the mosquitoes got bad. we'll be back for february and march next year....it's all good...just sometimes are better than others.

We were in Bonaire Aug 2003 for 10 days. I wouldn't hesitate to go back in August. No biting insects to speak of, hot but not too hot as there is always a strong breeze.
