Does any list members have info on the Bonaire Curacao ferry service. We are putting a group trip together and would like to dive both islands during our 2 week stay. Any information or contact please.

Hi Steve,

Here is the daily schedule;

Dep Bon 6:30 A.M. - Arr Cur 8:00 A.M.
Dep Cur 8:30 A.M. - Arr Bon 10:15 A.M.
Dep Bon 4:30 P.M. - Arr Cur 6:00 P.M.
Dep Cur 6:30 P.M. - Arr Bon 8:15 P.M.

Obviously all time are approximate and could change due to weather and sea conditions.

Ferry departs from the Town Pier on Bonaire and docks in Punda on Curacao.

You must check-in 2 hours prior to departure time for customs and immigration checks and payment of tickets. Luggage is limited to what you can carry, in other words, if you can carry it, you can take it.

November 2001 Special Prices

One Way - 60.00 Naf ($34.00 approx.)
Round Trip - 90.00 Naf ($51.00 approx.)

Regular Prices After November

One Way - 60.00 Naf ($34.00 approx.)
Round Trip - 95.00 Naf (54.00 approx.)

Hope this helps.

Who told you to check in 2 hours prior to departure??? My last information was that you can buy a ticket till 15 minutes before departure.

I have also been told that an advance reservation is required. Today I will go personally and get the correct info and post it.

Hi Brigitte,

We were told that by a guest who used the ferry to Curacao and for their return trip they were told to be at the pier 2 hours prior to departure. I just called the Ferry and now they say 30 minutes prior to departure. Sorry for the mis-info.

Jack

Jack

Sue & I are returning 1st Dec to Habitat Curaco and then onto Captain Don's 8th Dec. Have you had any +/- feedback on the ferry, it would seem a good idea as it would allow us to dive for an extra day.

I followed Wilco's advice and bought a Nikon F80 so hopefully should get better pictures this time. See you next month

More informantion....
For the morning trip, you must purchase your ticket the day before..for the afternoon trip, you can purchase tickets on that morning. The reason is that they do have to fill out a passenger manifest of customs and immigration, etc. By the end of the month there will be an online reservation system. SO far the ferry has been doing very well.

Hi Brian & Sue,

Congratulations on the new camera, I'm sure you're gonna love it. After this trip you will probably hold the record for the most number of weekly wins in our Photo Competition, ;-).

The people I have talked with so far that have taken the Ferry have had all good things to say...comfortable, mostly smooth, etc..
Of course we haven't had much wind for the last couple of weeks. For those folks like you who will be doing both islands, could really be great not having to give up a day of diving.

It seems Michael has gotten some more info on the tickets and reservations. When you get to Curacao just have someone at the front desk give the Ferry a call for more updated info. Looking forward to seeing you guys on Bonaire again.

Word from the street is that passengers on this mornings' 8:30am ferry ride saw a Whale Shark!

Jake, how neat!!! Ever see Lutty's (a Divi dive master) video of the whale shark, with some local divers, that came into Bonaire a few years ago? It is awesome.... Anybody who gets the chance to see it should. He let us watch it in the training room at the Divi last time we were there.
