Please tell me about the beach conditions at Lighthouse Beach (extreme south end of island) and is entry into the water sandy or rocky. Thanks!

There is no beach. Everything is covered by coral washed up by the waves. Entry is tricky under best of conditions, there is a ledge of ironshore that allows you to carefully move out into deeper water. IF you miss this ledge on your exit you will be in for a rough (and possible painful) exit.

Thanks for the info. My wife & I and another couple (mid 50's) were considering a trip to Bonaire (our first) and were thinking of staying in some 2BR townhomes at Lighthouse Beach. We are not divers and require a nice sandy beach with easy access into the water, so do you have any suggestions that would meet our criterior? We need 2 BR & 2BA on the beach in $700-1000 price range for a week in July.

Donald,
There are not very many areas with homes that have a sandy water entry... Bonaire is not known for their Sandy beaches.. There are however a few areas that beaches ( no homes) that have easy entry.

Whoa !!!!!!!! Lighthouse Beach Resort and Lighthouse (Willemstoren)dive site are two altogether different places.

The southernmost dive site is an isolated area that is rugged and windswept and an awesome dive if conditions are right. The Lighthouse Beach Resort is just down the road from the airport in the middle of some really great dive sites. Click on the following url for info on Bonaire dive sites:

Donald,

Consider Eden Beach resort...it has a small beach that is easy to get in and out...don't know about the price.

Divi has a nice small beach but they only have one bedroom effeciencies...it may be hard to find beach, two bdrm at your price restriction...unless of course you were talking about the fee per person...
