I've read that Bonaire has some mighty radio transmitters on the island. Now I've seen accounts in the annals of old time radio of barbed wire fences glowing from all that radiant energy.
Is there a health hazard in all that power? Do yer silver fillings pick up evangelical broadcasts?
Just curious,
Sam

My computer sure does...my teeth however only receive classical music.

Standing smack-dab in front of the Radio Netherlands antenna array, I never even felt so much as a hair twitch. Not once did my molars start humming... (and I have enough metal in my molars to pick up anything it could possibly dish out! :)

Ah, but evangelical broadcasts are a matter of Faith!

Good one, Antonio! Not as good as my husband's "Faith healer" line, but definitely more imaginative than the folks who ask where my sisters Hope and Charity are... :)

I've actually never gotten close to the TransWorld Radio towers. They're a bit far off the beaten path down in the salt flats in the south. But the Radio Netherlands towers in the north run right alongside the road from 1000 Steps to Karpata. Very cool, especially for us ham radio types! From a distance, the towers look like they are the antenna(s), but up close, you can see the wire curtain strung between the towers. That's the real antenna(s) -- the towers are just there as support structures...

I'm a news editor at the Inquirer. Every couple of years I dip into radio (I was a world music dj on wxpn back in the day, and later a swing jock on wwdb -- for a very short time-- both here in Phila).

My wife and I are planning a trip to Bonaire in January so we've been trying to glean as much info as possible. (BTW, this msg board is a godsend.)
When I saw the power rating of that station (turns out it's more like 300,000, my bad, i read wrong) i got a wee bit curious. There are a couple books on what was called "mexican border radio" (wolfman jack got his start on one of 'em) that mention the mighty weird phenomena that those big blasters can create.

thanks to you all for such quick responses!
