Hi everyone! I leave for my first trip to Bonaire on Sunday. I just checked the weather and rain or t-storms are in the forecast for all 10 days of our visit! Is the local version of the forecast the same? (I'm sure it probably is, but I'm trying to keep some optimism.) Will we see no sunshine on our trip? I've visited other tropical areas where showers and t-storms are quick to pass and most of the days are nice. Do the showers and t-storms in Bonaire tend to blow through quickly? Also, being a new diver...what does the rain and t-storms mean for diving conditions?

Jeff, relax mon...you're right...the rain showers (generally, unless there is a hurricane passing through the Caribbean) are short lived...it rains, then it stops. It shouldn't affect your diving at all...in fact, it's kind of cool to look up and see the rain hitting the water! The air will be warm, the water will be warm and clear

Thanks for talking me down, Cynde! Sorry to be freaking out...lol. It's just when I saw the forecast, I got a bit worried. On an entirely different note...just saw your Kahlifornia Seal on the "It's Friday" post. I'm a former CA resident and absolutely loved it!

Jeff, glad I could help You're not the first one to post the question before their trip! Since Bonaire is really a desert island, the shower bursts are refreshing, it cools things off a bit! Last time I was there in July, the first day vis was 150 feet plus A hurricane passed by San Juan, and Bonaire got some residual rain (actually a lot of rain) and by the last day vis was about 60 feet...that still a LOT more than I get diving locally, so it's all good!

Not sure what to think about Arnie as governor, Cynde. It IS interesting though. I think it's the first time I've heard an inauguration report that included the standard "red carpet" addition of, "Arnold was wearing Prada and Maria was in Versace".

Jeff, yes, this inaguration was different! He immediately repealed the 300% increase in car tax, which we are all happy about! Kelly and John are there! Look on the main webcam page to see the pics..oh, and when you meet her, make sure you ask her "if she has cash on her." tell her I told you to ask her that...I don't want her to have too much fun without me this time! LOL!

Hey there, Jan....we're on AJ. 6:15am YIKES! Hopefully, you're not departing at the same ungodly hour as the two of us. Where are ya staying? Maybe we'll cross paths?
