Hi, While I was snorkeling off Eden Beach, I encountered this long fish.. he was almost as long as me! Is this a trumpet fish.. couldn't really tell from Humann book?

Yep. That's a trumpet fish alright. Just upside down in a horizontal position. Scientists originally thought that the different colored trumpet (brown, blue, yellow, etc.) were different species, but then figured out that there were all the same species.

Thanks, Jake. I had no idea they got so big.. I was amazed at how long this guy was and he wasn't afraid at all! My little dig. & EWA bag did OK!

Yes, I have seen some quite big trumpetfish around the rocks in front of Eden Beach. And of different colors, too.
