Can anybody tell me the status on the casinos (Divi and/or Plaza)? I heard that both were closed recently. We're coming down the last week in November, and if my wife can't find a blackjack table, she'll be bouncing off the walls.

They are still closed. You can contact divi directly and check for the estimated schedule of reopening

When I was there the week of Sept. 8th, Stevo told me that the casino was suppose to open in a month which brings it to right about now. Maybe the new managers can give us the projected opening date.

Found The Divi web site, it says early November. Hope that's reasonably accurate.

I e-mailed The Plaza and I will post their response, in case anyone else is interested.

Don't forget about island time! If they say early November, I would figure December or even January! Yikes!!! My husband will be really upset if it isn't done by January 5th, when we arrive! Fritz, do you want to give us your professional opinion of how the work is progressing?

I called divi resorts here in the states and after some checking was told the grand re-opening at the Divi was set for the 1st week in December. I figure we will be lucky if it is open by Christmas.

What ever happened to that spell check they were talking about???

I implemented the spell check option in this software, but it had too many problems, so I had to take it back out again. Sorry.

Has anyone heard if the Casino has opened at the Divi yet? Also, does anyone know about the casino that opened and is run by the Solvenians. Is that location at the Plaza? There was an article in the Bonaire Reporter, but I only get the highlights so I don't know the details.

According to the full aticle in the Reporter: the Slovenian owned (Hit Casinos) has opened at the Plaza and the Casino at the Divi will open at the end of the month.

The plaza casino did indeed open on Sat. Nov. 11, and is now open 7 days/wk. from 8:00pm. The Divi is scheduled to re-open during the last part of the first week of December. The Plaza is nearly the same in every way to the way it was and looked before it closed. The only difference is one half the dealers and bosses are from Slovania. The divi really looks nice. It will be much larger and nicer on the inside. Lucio, the boss at the Divi told me the casino would definitely be open by Dec. 8.

According to the Curacao daily (online) paper 'Amigoe', the Divi Casino opend last Friday.

And did it with flair. Fireworks and Miss Aruba in Attnendance.

Glad to hear the casino is open again. Will check it out in May...they "like" Joe's money in that place! Someday we will come out ahead, but it is still fun to try and beat the odds! Carole
