I have just seen an episode of a series, "Exotic Islands", which left me puzzled. The series is made by Travel Channel (I think), and was presented in my country by People+Arts (BBC + Discovery), and features Hunter Reno, a very presentable presentator on - you guessed - islands, from the viewpoint of tourism. There is a promise to show "Exotic Bonaire", but I have not seen that so far.
This session was about Martinique, and at a certain point Hunter Reno was seen floating in a bright blue sea; a small dinghy approached (presumably from the resort) and a guy offered her a drink in a paper or plastic cup; she took it, and stayed floating away, drinking from the cup ... Beautiful!
Except that the dinghy went away; so, everything indicates that she ended by abandoning the cup in the sea, to add to the countless litter we know!
Does a small cup matter? Yes it does, but that is not the point: the point is that it was done ON TELEVISION for millions of people to sea, and perceive as correct throwing stuff into the sea!
I am prepared to believe that Hunter Reno carried the small cup back with her after she was done, but the public "lesson" is there for evrybody to "learn"
Sorry folks, I had to get this off my chest, and thought you would be good listeners!

I am glad you got it "off your chest"....just wanted to let you know that any cup I take into the sea comes out with me...."IN my chest"! I "stash" the cup into my suit (endowed enuff to make room for the empty!!) and take it to shore for proper disposal.

I agree, however, it sounds as if the show did not set a good example at all. Unfortunately those cups and other trash add up quickly.
