We had another great gathering of DFW folks who enjoy going to Bonaire! Many thanks to David & Nancy Murray who opened up their home and heated swimming pool for us to enjoy. Those in attendance included David & Nancy Murray, Bill & Deana Alexander, Charles & Kaye Poteet, Leif & Michelle Swedlow, Michael ? (a new guy & BT lurker), and me & my husband, Gary Badstebner.

We enjoyed grilled burgers with all the trimmings, queso & chips, some type of black bean salsa or dip, a nice salad, a type of chocolate bread pudding that actually looked like brownies (can't remember the exact name..Michelle made it & it was yummy), and Braum's ice cream. There was even some Amstel Light on the premises.

The Murrays went out of their way to prepare for this party by setting up a "dive flag beach towel" on their kitchen table to display various Bonaire paraphenalia and pictures. They even wore Bonaire t-shirts! Michael showed up with a "serious" dive flag which was displayed proudly in the back yard on the new State Fair purchased flag pole.

After dinner, some of us donned our swimsuits and jumped in the swimming pool. Deana was the first to have her swimsuit on, mask & snorkel in hand, and was ready to get in the pool but hesitated since no one else looked like they were ready to get in. She said, "I'm not going in there by myself!" Next thing you know, Nancy was in the pool checking the temperature. Once we knew it was warm enough, everybody started getting in. (Thanks to Nancy for letting me borrow a swimsuit since I forgot mine!)

There was even a tank & regulator waiting at the bottom of the pool for those who wanted to simulate being in Bonaire. Which leads me to post the following 3 pictures:

That's Michelle underwater! I realize it looks kind of funny with everybody standing around her while she was underwater, but we were trying to get organized for a group photo that Michelle didn't know about. So while everyone was lining up for the photo, I took advantage of the opportunity to take her picture from above. Needless to say, she came up to see what was going on and then went back down to relax. (In case you're wondering, that yellow thing on Michelle's chest is a weight to help keep her down.)

Here is our group photo:

Left to Right: Bill Alexander, Deana Alexander, David Murray, Nancy Murray, Leif Swedlow, Michael ?, and Michelle Swedlow underwater. Charles & Kaye Poteet left the scene a little earlier and are not pictured. I am the one behind the camera while my husband is standing behind me, and thus, not pictured.

Unfortunately, we didn't get any other pictures...too busy enjoying the food, the company & the conversation. I managed to take these photos as I was getting ready to leave and looking for my camera realizing I hadn't taken any pictures yet. Luckily, I was able to get these pictures to commemorate our event!

Again, many many thanks to Nancy & David for a wonderful evening! I can't wait for the next get-together!

Jim & Margarite: We missed you! We were hoping you would be in attendance to share with us the events of your recent trip to Bonaire. So sorry you couldn't make it. Hopefully next time we'll get to hear all about it!

Bon Nochi!

Hiya Greta!
Gee, you got great photos of my legs but not the face... Considering Gary, Leif and I weren't pictured at the last BT gathering, I'm just going to have to host the next party so I can get some pictures of the rest of us on BT!!!
If you've never lain on the bottom of a warm pool, looking up at the stars through bubbles, you're missing something. Many of us took turns breathing underwater, and it was quite entertaining.
Thanks to Nancy & David for hosting the fete. It was wonderfully fun and very relaxing!
I think the plan is in motion for all of us to descend on Bonaire sometime soon. I will let you all know when I have my schedule for that month, so we will be able to plan dates when Leif & I can join everyone else on the Island.
Until December, I wish you fishy dreams.
Michelle

Hi Greta,

I guess I'll no long lurk on this board. My last name is Joe.... and yes it is my second first name that I have been using as my last for 30+ years! Anyway, it was a blast meeting you all at the Murray's. Hopefully we can all meet at the Carrollton/Farmers Branch natatorium pool sometime in the near future to go get wet before visiting blue waters again.

-Michael

Welcome to BT Michael! I managed to get Michelle out of "lurker" status due to the first DFW/BT gathering and now you due to the second gathering. I feel as though I have accomplished something. And I cannot believe I met a high school rival at a BT party! (Loved that purple tower at Arlington Heights during the '80s.)

Michelle & Leif, I cannot wait to hear the details of the next party! If you need my help with the planning, please do not hesitate to ask. I will be emailing you the member list soon.

If there are any other DFW/BT lurkers out there who are interested in joining our fun group, please send me an email with your contact info and I will gladly add your name to the distribution list. My email address is gbadsteb@yahoo.com.
