Dara made it to Colorado and all the animals are fine. I think she'll try to give you a 'trip report' real soon now. She is getting settled into her new house.

So, we took a picture of her today. We went up to her parents' house and got some firewood. The other picture was taken last week at a deli in Gunnison.

Dara (with the dogs) at her parents' house Dara at The Firebrand in Gunnison

Bea, thanks for the update! I look forward to Dara's report...I wonder if she had to buy the jeans and sweatshirt, they certainly aren't needed on Bonaire! LOL! I bet the dogs are enjoying the countryside as well:-)

Thanks too from Niki, Bea! :-)

I was getting so curious about Dara's situation and the outcome of the pet parade. Glad to see the pictures!! I just flew over Colorado twice and was looking out the window for any sign of her. But at 35,000 ft., I had no luck. Now off to Salt Lake City for a meeting. Maybe I'll see her from there... (Do any BTers live there?)

Thanks so much Bea, not only for the update but for the pictures as well. Dara is such a sweet person, I enjoyed the time I got to spend with her so much. Looking forward to her Adventurous Trip Report!

Yes, the dogs are still amazed. We had our old and very ugly white Jeepster with a home built trailer full of logs up there. They thought it was an UFO!!

Now, they get to move to a house with a wooden fence around the back yard in Montrose. Another new experience, but it will be warmer down there. Lower in altitude and warmer - all good things.

The picture was taken about 1/2 way between Gunnison and Crested Butte. We have had a beautiful fall (great colors), but quite a bit of wind in the last week or so. So, not many of the trees have any leaves left, especially up there.

Hello to everybody from "The edge of Paradise" :-)

I am now settled in Montrose, working in a gallery and framing studio. The dogs, cat and bird have acclimated to the lower altitude (only a mile high :-) and love grass and leaves.....much better to rub your head and ears on than coral rubble! The back yard is full of new sensory adventures, LOL!

I'll write a trip report soon, with helpful hints for others who want to beat a hasty retreat from Bonaire with pets and portraits in tow :-)

Hey gal! Glad to see you and the clan made it safe and sound. Can't wait for a trip report:-) So, did you have to go buy a whole new winter wardrobe?

So glad you made it safely and are now settled in, Dara! Looking forward to hearing about your journey. You'd better explain "snow" to the critters now before it hits the ground...it will definitely be an environmental/head shock for them later! LOL. Carole

GOOD point, Carole, Spooky and Bingo are island boys..what WILL they think of the snow?

:-)

Keep the adventures coming..best wishes to u and your family, Dara.

(does their Bonaire girlfriend miss them or has she found new male buddies?)

I saw Mocha looking through the gate at the little blue house in the weeks right after they left. Looked a little sad, like "I'm just checking maybe they really didn't leave".
