011-599 and the seven digit number, though to reach some cell phones you need to dial 011-599-9 and the seven digit number

Just to let you all know that I used 10-10-987 to fax down info to Bonaire and it was MUCH cheaper than our normal rates. The cost was about a fifth less then if I would have dialed direct. Try it and see! (PS...I have nothing to do with service, other than using it to call Bonaire!) Liz

I have used cyber phone cards with New Era and 10-10-629. Will try the 987 Liz. Thanks for the tip!

I got a flyer in the mail for 10-10-297 and it is suppose to be 3 cents and minute and the Netherlands is part of the plan, so I guess that means Bonaire as well. The web address is www.1010297.com

Ann, They had it listed as the Netherlands on the flyer that I got. I called and they said it would be in the plan, but I am not to sure if the person I spoke to had enough knowledge to answer my question correctly. The Netherlands is the same thing as the Netherland Antillies, isn't it??

Hey Darlene, good investigatory work. Netherland and Netherland Antilles have different rates in the plans I have checked. If it's 3 cents a minute YOWSA...

Ne ne Darlene! I'm pretty sure the Netherlands is the place where they keep Holland in Yerp, and the NA are the islands in the Caribbean.

I called the number on the brochure (1-800-583-1879)It is VarTec Telecom, Inc.and I spoke to a fellow named Harsha. He was not understanding me too well or I him but I tried to get him to understand the difference between Netherlans and Netherland Antillies. He ended up saying it would be 45 cents a minute with a 99 cents connection fee. He also said it would be that rate for a cell phone. I am skeptical as now I have heard two different rates when I have called. Annie, maybe you can give them a call and see what you can get for info.

The very helpful lady at FedEx (at Rocargo) on Bonaire told me things should always be addressed to the Dutch Caribbean, then they have to go and look it up.

When Bubbles and I call down to Bonaire, we buy a 60 minute phone card from Walmart which then gives us 18 minutes. That works out to about $0.28 a minute. So I am sure purchasing a 500 minute card would give even better savings.
