Does anyone know if there is any place to access the internet via wireless 802.11b on Bonaire? I may bring my wireless network adapter for my PDA with me if there are.

Hi Dennis, I do know that Cyber City (in City Café) now offers PC-cards for laptops so you can sit outside at City while being on the net with your laptop. Don't know if that also works with PDA's though.

Hotspot? Bonaire is one big hot spot :-)

Bonaire Access, another CyberCafe, near the KFC in the Harborside Mall, runs on 802.11b, but when I tried to use my iPAQ 5555 there a couple of days ago, and while I could see their SSID in my selection list, I could not access their access point. My guess is that it's secured to specific MAC addresses or via WEP, or both (as my Access Points at home are). And I'm pretty sure that the girl that staffs the place during the day wouldn't have a clue how to provide access to someone not wanting to use their computers. You'd have to try in the evenings when Elvis is there - he's the one who set up the network.

CyberCity, which Marc mentions, is the only other possible option for public WiFi access. Marlon, the owner, is pretty savvy, and might be able to get your WiFi card "legal" in his configuration.

Now, if we could get a Starbucks here with a T-Mobile HotSpot, I'd be thrilled - made great use of that in Pentagon City, Virginia a week ago (the Starbucks and the WiFi :-) )
