I was wondering if there might be any Bonaire "locals" who do surf kayaking on the windward side of the island. Or, is there any tour operator who has surf kayaking as a niche? I see lots of information for windsurfing, but nothing with kayaks. Also, on the leeward side of Bonaire, are there any operators that rent traditional sea kayaks?

Anybody been kayaking through the mangroves? We're going to be there for 20 days, and will probably take a day off diving, and that sounds like fun.

Hi Darryl.

Kayaking thru the mangroves is a great way to take a "day off". My husband and I do it often and are always amazed at the changes (with the rise and fall of the tide) that we see each time. There are a lot of nice "tunnels" thru the mangroves and the water is clear enough that you can see whats going on below. You may want to take mosquito repellent as they can get hungry. On the road to Cai, is a kayaking rental place which also gives tours...don't know much about them but they are located directly in front of the entrance we take into the mangroves. You can also snorkel in the mangroves as a little side to your kayaking. We've seen lots of interesting things including turtles....Have Fun !! (You didn't mention what time of year you'll be coming...look out for wind conditions / current conditions ... depending on your kayaking abilities...although not bad at all within in the sheltered areas of the mangrove.)
