Friends want to get married on Bonaire however they have run into a requirement that an "Apostille" accompany all U.S. documents, including birth certificates and certification of being "single".

Has anyone successfully completed this requirement and how.

An Apostille:
Get a new birth certificate from the state you were born in. Make sure they realize you need this for an apostille since they may have a different form (NY has a long form for this). Get the State Department of that same state to Apostille the new birth certifcate. Amounts to notarizing the already notarized birth cerificate. We needed to get these done for our residence permits here.

Certification of being single: No governmental entity in the USA does this unless you are divorced. In which case, divorce papers work. So get your minister, your mother, or even your banker to sign a notarized letter stating you are single. Sounds less than official to us but that is what they require.
