I have some leftover currency from Bonaire (Netherlands Antillean Guilders)
I am trying to exchange this currency back to US Dollars but I am having problems.
Chase Bank gave me a rate of less than one cent for 70 Guilder.
Thomas Cook Currency Exchange wouldn't even take it al all?

Can anyone tell me how I can exchange this without having to go back to Bonaire?

Thanks!

duh! Go back to Bonaire...that's the easiest...or send it to me, I'd be happy to spend it for you in September... :-)

Send it to Cynde, she can send it to the donkey sanctuary. That is a good way to spend the guilders!

I am not sure there is a simple way to do it. I am assuming the major amount you have is in bills. The only way that I can come up with is to find someone who is willing to swap bills with you . This is going to take some faith and good will on both the paries parts unless you can arrange to meet them somewhere. Otherwise, going back it the best option--an option I can live with. Your problem is the reason I usually just deal in dollars or use credit cards when on island. In the future, I would think it would be a simple thing to "trade" bills while on island with a local shop just before you leave....maybe at the resort you are staying at.

How many guilders do you have? Is it paper? A quick answer would help. Sue

We are going to Bonaire Oct 15. If you still have the guilders, I would be glad to swap for dollars. It would involve some trust on your part, certainly, but you could send me guilders and I could send you a check based on the current exchange rate which I believe puts the guilder at about $.56 per guilder. Let me know if you are interested.
