This came across my email just now. I don't know how accurate it is, but if it is - well...

I hope it's a sick joke, but I felt it necessary to share it and express myself. You guys are my only support group. The few Brits, Aussies and New Zealanders (fellow teachers) are okay, but not like you all .

It's been debunked as phony. Nostradamus died in the 1500's for one thing.

Origins: The turmoil of recent events has us all scrambling, some to look for solace and meaning, others for the terrorists responsible, and yet others for signs that what happened could have been prevented or at least foreseen. The 11 September 2001 attack on America destroyed not only the two World Trade Center towers in New York City, a chunk of the Pentagon in Washington, and caused untold loss of life, it also shook America's sense of invulnerability. No longer do Americans presume safety in an unsafe world.
For some, that realization is an eye-opener, unsettling but necessary, in that a child's blissful unawareness has been replaced (at great cost) with an adult's more clear-eyed view of the world and its sometimes horrifying ways. Those looking for the certainty of a Nostradamus prophesy come true have been known to sledge hammer the results to force a fit by inventing fanciful translations from the original French, bend over backwards to assert one named term is really another, and (as in this case) outright fabricate part or all of the prediction.
Nostradamus did not write the quatrain now being attributed to him. (One wonders how a guy who died in 1566 could have written an item identified as being penned in 1654 anyway.) It originated with a student at Brock University in Canada in the 1990s, appearing on a web page essay on Nostradamus. That particular quatrain was offered by the page's author, Neil Marshall, as a fabricated example to illustrate how easily an important-sounding prophecy can be crafted through the use of abstract imagery. He pointed out how the terms he used were so deliberately vague they could be interpreted to fit any number of cataclysmic events.
It appears someone mistook Marshall's illustrative example for an actual Nostradamus prophecy and, not content to let well enough alone, added "The third big war will begin when the big city is burning." A fabrication was thus further fabricated.
But that wasn't the end of it. More fakery was piled on in later versions that now included all of the text quoted in the Example section above but now concluded with:

Similarly, another enhanced version incorporates the Example text into a more detailed prophecy:

It's still crap that Nostradamus said it. He didn't. This is a complete falsehood.

I'm trying to stay away from the ramblings. I was kinda radical on my first one with Nola Gay, etc....so, I'll just keep quiet. I'm mending and healing slowly. I just look at my two-week old son and think of all the good I'm blessed with and that he is a child of God. I do thank God I don't have to explain this to him.

However, one interesting irony about the date of Black Tuesday (anyone have a better name?) is that it's 911, and also that the U.N. had declared Sept. 11th as the world day of peace.

Thanks so much for providing some facts to debunk this/these rampant emails. They are so wide spread that I haven't been successful in getting to any of the Nostradamus sites to verify for myself. I'm nervous enough about where this will all end.

Ok, here is a website that has the correct information I believe. Someone has fudged the numbers to 2001, his original prediciton was for this to happen in the 7 month of 1999. Check it out for yourself and you make your own decision. America still comes out on top in the end of this version...Link

Notrodamus wrote all his profecies in Latin or old French - and all he wrote was hidden in a way that it makes it very difficult to understand.He had to do it that way for fear of the catholic church . Maria de Medici than used him for a while, but she wanted of course only hear pleasnt profecies. So he had to be very careful how to write what. Which makes it more than difficult to understand what he wanted to say.

I had a look at the link/text above and compared it with an old French version - somebody in the 1700s tried to understand the texts of Nostrodamus - I can only try to translate that into English

It is not clear which kingdom will be happy - because in the old translation every state was a kingdom as they did not know better. The underground kingdom - the attacted kingdom ????

You have to know that Angomois can be also the king of the underground world (part of the mogolian myth) - - - and what is a terrorist other than the king of the underground in our time

You certainly can understand the whole text in many different ways.
He was very accurate --- after the fact --- with lots of things he said about Napoleon, Hitler and others. But nobody was ever capable of understanding it before the fact.

We have also been told at our t.v. station this is a hoax - that the time lines and the writings do not add up. Unfortunately there are sickos out there who like to prey on peoples' minds.

I was touched by the expressions of sadness and solidarity from so many around the world, today, and in the past 2 days. Let's remember that people of many nationalities worked in the WTC and were also passengers on those 4 planes.

It seems that Europeans and Canadians and Americans (among others?) will gather at noon tomorrow, to pray, meditate, worship, in honor of those who died and are missing or injured.

I wish I was in Bonaire right now.
