OK I disappear for months and then i'm posting like a fiend but we're coming back to BON in January. TO THE QUESTION VERNE......with all the luggage restrictions and security, i'm pondering shipping my dive box ahead of us. Does anybody have any idea of shippers that might could handle same? UPS and FEDEX are obvious (and obviously expensive), but i live right next to the Mexican border so i might could access another international carrier like DHL

thanks
joe

We haven't had a lot of luck with DHL here. Our packages tend to go to Europe for delivery in Holland. We've had the best experiences with FEDEX in terms of on time and correctly routed deliveries.

Joe
You better check that you don't get stuck paying duty on that box!

Joe,

if you ship your gear to Bonaire, there is the issue of customs to deal with (import tax, etc..).

I'd not thought of import tax. Does that mean if I ship items from me to me, I'd be responsible for import tax?

Thanks mucho
joe

Yep, or you'd have to post a bond and pay a bunch fees for paperwork to allow you to bring in and remove goods. Take it as luggage - it's cheaper.

Jake
