Just wondering if there are any Chicagoland BT-ers lurking around here. Looking to expand my social circle - who knows, a BT-er bowling night could be good times.

Hi Brian,

I live near Midway Airport. Do some local diving at Haigh and Gilboa, and keep saving my pennies to make my 3rd trip to Bon.

Hey Randy. You mention names of place of which I am not familiar, but then again, I'm not a diver. Are these lakes in the area? We've just started saving our pennies. Dead of winter in Chicago would be the ideal time to head to the carribean, but I don't believe the penny trees will be in full bloom by then. I've been keeping my eyes/ears open for local lakes (out in the burbs) that might have windsurfing, but given the short summers here, I'm not surprised I haven't found any.

Hi Brian,

They are scuba diving training quarries in the Midwest. While it's hard not to get hooked on warm water, most of my underwater time is spent between 48F-55F in local quarries. A tad cool for some, but home for us north of the Mason/Dixon line. By Bonaire standards it's the Arctic Circle. lol

I like to go into debt in November and enjoy Bonaire then.

Randy, you don't mean this November, do you?? If so, could it be somewhere between 25 Nov. and 3 Dec.??? It would be great to meet you again. I had a lot of fun last time at Antreol Catering!!

I'm from Chicago and looking to make a first trip to Bonaire. I am a diver and kitesurfer. I'm also looking into the possibility of buying land on the island. I'd love to learn more about the island from other Chicago folks that have visited already.

Chicago BT-er here, albeit a lurking one so far. See stats? First post.

Really new to diving. In fact, my wife and I will be doing our OW referrals in Bonaire Nov. 25/26. We'll be staying through December 3. It's our first trip to the island and we can't wait!

Hi, from just outside Chicago (Elmwood Park). Went to Bonaire in August for the first time and fell in love with the island and the fishes. I can't wait to go back, I don't know when that will be but I will go back someday soon hopefully.
