I am not paid for this but More For Less on the Aboina Road (next to Friars Inn) has supppppper veggies and fruit direct from Ecuador. I highly recommend a stop. Last Fri. I bought berries galore for the same price I pay in the US.

Enjoy!

Thanks Ann, I put a note in my Bonaire file for Feb/04. I was a bit put off by the fruit and veggies in Cultimara, so I'll try this other place. When I turned my nose up at the disgusting looking fruit, my husband said "get used to it, it's not like back home". No thanks, I'd rather not eat it!!

Timing is the key as well. The ship from Miami comes in on Wednesday/Thursday so the best selection and freshest veggies/fruit would be available Thursday afternoon (maybe) or Friday. More for Less has those great berries and lettuce.

Did you try the Venezuelean market right in front of City Cafe on the the waterfront?
I like the tomatoes there.

Linda, is the Venezuelean market on the waterfront every day?

Once and awhile I've seen the pavillion empty. Usually one of the boat tied up at the town pier has a selection of pots and plants lined up on the pier as well. Sometimes there are stalls right at the entrance to the town pier also.

Cultimara is usually the worst for fresh fruits and veggies - and very expensive. Try the Dutch supermarket across the street from Consales (the wholesale place). Their stuff is very fresh. One thing about Bonaire is that you can't always get everything. -Great melons or peppers one month, none the next! Makes life basic and interesting!
