My wife and I will be making our first trip to Bonaire Dec 26 - Dec 31. I am a longtime inland lake windsurfer and am looking forward to sailing Lac Bay. I understand this is the busy season and I am wondering about the need to reserve a board during this busy week. I know I will not be boarding all day every day (as my wife does not windsurf) and we want to do some diving (recently certified) and island exploring as well. Reserving a board for the whole time would probably be a waste of $$ considering the amount of time I'll actually be sailing, but if I have to I will. Can anyone tell me whether the rental places generally have boards available during this week or are they often all rented out like the car rental places? Also what is the best place to rent from as far as launch site, non-windsurfing spouse beach hang-out area, and equipment are concerned?

Both places are really good to rent from. However, we use Jibe City. They have the best atmosphere and a great little beach bar restaurant. Jibe City would probably be the best place for a non-windsurfing partner. Lots of friendly people around. I would suggest contacting either place directly and they will tell you what is best for you. Happy sailing.
