Hello!

Hubby and I will be taking our very first windsurfing lesson next week and I was curious to know if there is a better time of day (good winds) to go or if crowding might be an issue.

I think we're planning to go earlier in our week in case we want to do it again later in the week, too.

Any other insights for newbies will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Rebecca

Hi Rebecca

It is a quiet time this time of year anyway but the wind pattern is always the same.

The wind is stronger between 8:00 am and 10:00 am and then tends to decrease a little and then around 15:30 it picks up a little. Of course there are exceptions to the average and September seems to have more than most (We were there for the whole of August and it was weird at times !)

So if you are going for a lesson then pick the hour before lunch then you can relax with a cold beer and some food and gaze at the bay over lunch !!!

Trevor

Do you have to book lessons ahead or can you just show up, we are going in late Jan and there is about 4 of us that would like to take lessons for the first time.
Thanks

We didn't book ahead, there were only two of us and it was the slow season.

You should probably email the operation and ask them, that's what we did.

Enjoy!

You do not need to book ahead for lessons UNLESS you go peak season such as Christmas or President's Week. Also know if you choose lessons at either shop when they have an ongoing clinic then it is IMPERATIVE (not yelling but stressing) to pre book lessons. If you want one lesson and have no flexibility pre book.

Have fun!
