My parents are thinking of going with us on our Jan. trip to Bonaire. My dad wants to sail while he is there since doesn't dive (yet!)

I see a couple of Web sites that offer rentals. I want to make sure these businesses are still in business so I can tell my dad that he will be able to sail while there. Also, if anyone can give me a Web address of any open businesses that would be excellent!

I saw the same ads but was unable to find anyone on Bonaire who actually rented sailboats, told by the office at Belmar no sailboat rental is currently available anywhere on the island.

I recall Harbour Village had Sunfish available several years ago but they were only for their guests. I also believe Plaza Resort had Sunfish a few years ago, which I believe were available for rent to anyone. I do not recall seeing any Hobie's available at either place.

When we were there last September, we tried to rent a small sailboat. We were told most if not all of the places that had at one time rented them, no longer did so.

Michael Gaynor hooked us up with someone who very kindly allowed Geoffrey and I to take out a Sunfish (I believe it was that - Geoffrey's the sailor in the family). It isn't a business for him as far as I could tell, though.

oh, i am really bummed to hear this. i was looking forward to trying to rent a small sailboat as well. i guess i will have to windsurf; i'm just not nearly as good at it!!!

if anybody finds someone who will rent a small cat, i would really love to get their info!
