Hi, I think it's time to reconsider the situation on kiteboarding in Lac Bay.

I have never tried to kitesurf, but think that the surfers I have seen are experienced enough to be on the water in Lac, without beeing a problem for anyone. maybe measuring the experience in combination with a permit would be an option, if normal permission is no issue for the government. and keep instructions on the old location when needed. Kitsurfing has been grown so much into professionality on Bonaire that is should get permission to do it on Lac. It would also be nice if it could be a demonstration sport ( like with olympic games) during the regatta.

This same argument went on when snowboards first appeared on the winter slopes. If you look at the demographics and the sales trends you will see that it is not an if kiteboarding will be allowed, but when. The time in between is all lost opportunity. Lac Bay is a jewel and nobody wants it spoiled, however, there must be a way for all to enjoy it and for Bonaire to get ahead of the curve ( actually at this point is catch back up)on this rapidly growing sport.

Jeroen, hello. I'm glad to see that the discussion is still in play. I appreciated your continued effort to get people interested in going to Bonaire and to kite at Atlantis, however I'm even more excited to see you fight for access at lac bay. Please continue to hammer away; us kiters who would otherwise visit Bonaire regularly appreciate the effort very much. After several years of denial have the authorities seen a dip in attendance at lac. Is there a possibility to get those in charege to join this discussion; Lastly, have they any patience or understanding as to the opportunities that kiting could bring to the island. Attendence of the windsurfers must be down but to what degree? Has Ernest or any of the other proprieters investigated the possibilities to include kiting at Lac? I think at a minimum they should consider hours that kites can use the Bay, why not let kiters out after three o'clock? I think they would be amazed at the popularity and profits associated. Is there an Island council that makes the calls their? how exactly are decisions made. Its time for reasonable and fair folks to explore themissed opportunities.

I know this whole issue moves slow as molasses on a cold day and that's too bad. I live on the SE coast USA within sight of one of the great windsurfing/kitesurfing spots. The ratio of kites to windsurfers this year is easily 20 to 1 on windy afternoons. One of the great lessons in business is the failure of the railroads to understand they were not in the railroad business, but in the transportation business. They were economic giants in the early 20th century, by the 1980's they were in bankruptcy. Had they not been blinded by their ego's ("were one of the most powerful industries in America)they would have captured the growing trucking
