This will be Vinga's third hurricane season in Bonaire. I'll be leaving St Croix shortly after July fourth. Am just wondering; how busy are the moorings? I hope to find a mooring in front of the Green Submarine this year.

Cheers,

Melissa

Melissa,

Have you tried the Caribbean cruiser's radio net to contact a boat at Bonaire for info??? Likely not the correct terminology but the idea seems valid. :–)

OK, thanks for posting. Maybe I'll tune in Sunday, tho' I seem to remember that Bonaire's big religious stations' transmissions interfere with any signals to and from Bonaire.

Cheers,

Melissa, s/v Vinga

Hadn't thought about the power of those transmitters. I suppose they would overload any receiver not filtered to block them. Ah, well.

You also might try emailing to the Bonaire Reporter for someone to contact, or they may be able to comment. But then you likely know them if you are returning.

Good sailing!!

Melissa, You may or may not remember me....I'm the guy from AZ with the braid (no more alas) that had drinks with you at the tipsy seagull march before last. You might want to try Karen on the Oscarina, we did an overnight sail with her last Jan. and she was moored directly in front of the Green Sub. Her website is http://www.bonairesailing.com/oscarina/ or her email is oscarina49@hotmail.com. Tell her Joe of the 30th Anniversary Sail from Arizona referred you to her. There's phone numbers there too and I think it's her cell

Good luck

Joe

Try sending an email to: KimStebbens@SVDelphinus.com
they are hanging on a mooring by the green dock right now. In fact we are leaving St. Thomas on th 23rd to go down and stay with them. If you were in St Croix you might have seen them there. Anyway, Kim can update you on the moorings.

Bill, thanks. I'm trying to get away from STX Tuesday, If I can get away from this internet!

I've haven't had a problem getting a mooring, don't really anticipate hassles this year. I do want an easy sail, so the weather dictates.

I think I did visit Delphinus, a Catana? I had less than pleasant crew at the time! He turned everyone off, so I sent him back to Scotland.

Cheers,

Melissa, s/v Vinga

We will be there two weeks from today. Hurrah, will make a point of stopping by as we dingy to where ever. Spoke to Kim yesterday and there are moorings available, just none down by Yellow Sub.

Bill
