We are going on a trip in September and can't decide between the Divi or Plaza. The pool and beach looks better at the Plaza but the Divi looks nice also. Has anyone stayed at both with an opinion. Does one resort have a better dive shop or shore diving than the other? Thanks!!

Patti Jo,

Hard choice since they both have strong points. I do not dive but the snorkeling off Plaza is fabulous. However, everyone rents trucks and shore dives all over the island so choose based on the ammenities. Plaza is a large sprawling resort with several dining options, pool, casino, entertainment and full resort feel. Divi is a mini version. I love them both.

Annie

Patti Jo--
Gotta confess, I'm a Divi bigot. I've never stayed at the Plaza. I've looked it over. Divi is much more intimate and a much shorter walk to town and its various restaurants. As for diving, I've dived all over the world and Divi, in my opinion, still has one of the best dive operations in the Caribbean. For snorkeling, it's fine. My sister and bro-in-law are snorkelers and were there last spring. Among other things they saw sting rays, squid, octopus, tarpon, and lots of other critters. Also, Divi has a couple of very good restaurants of its own. If you settle on Divi, order a waterside table at the Chibi Chibi and watch the fish feed as the sun sets.

I've stayed at both places. And you find the dive shops/crews are great, as well as the diving.

While I liked the Plaza, and it is a good place to stay for special occasions, (we went there for our 20th wedding anniversary). I found the Divi not as "Upscale", but very nice. If costs were the same, I'd try the Plaza again. But Divi has been much lower costs. For my money, the Divi is a better vacation. My wife and I are going back to the Divi this November.

We always stay at the Plaza. Last October while in Bonaire, we were shown some rooms at the Divi. They were much smaller and showed more wear than the Plaza. As for the cost, if you go to Bonaire Pros website and compare the cost between the two, during low season, you'll see that the cost is roughly the same. The Divi has a good location but given the reservations and room assignment problems I have read about on Bonaire Talk, we have decided to stay with the Plaza; We think the rooms at the Plaza win hands down. Just one opinion though!

We are going back to Bonaire in Sept. (12-23) and we will stay at the Plaza again. It does have the better beach of any where we looked at while there last year and the snorkeling was excellent. We ate at Divi one night and the beach was soooo small. Food was good and looked like they were doing some remodel work. We didn't look at the rooms. Good luck. The Plaza is large, (we normally stay in small condo at most places), but we liked having some beach and space and free cold water on the beach for drinking! And Key lime pie was excellent and huge pieces too. You will love Bonaire where ever you stay, it is "Magical".

Just back from the Plaza and went to the the Divi several times, once for lunch and twice for diving. It they are the same price, Plaza, just for the size and layout. The Divi is small and parking looked a little desperate. If the Divi is cheaper it would be a tough choice. My $.02 (,036 nfl).

We've stayed at both Divi and Plaza, most recently the Divi in April/May. Divi suits us better mainly because their boat dive operation and proximity to town. Plaza's rooms are quite a bit larger and fancier. The Plaza grounds are more manicured and tropical too. But after a few long strolls through the jungle to the dive shop and beach...I'd rather a shorter walk to the objective. DIVI! Skip the all inclusive package but get the daily breakfast included..You won't be sorry.
