Hi all! Haven't been posting much lately - hanging out here brings on too much PBD! But... looks like we may be able to return sooner than I expected!
We're looking at packages for either the Belmar or Capt Dons. (Other places may be available, but those are the two the travel agent has offered, so far.)
Which would you choose? Or should I get more choices?
Thanks for your input! I'm getting excited at just the prospect of returning!
Cheryl

Cheryl, I have not stayed at either place but have two weeks booked at Belmar Sept. 20th with a group of 12 from several states. We were in Bonaire just over a year ago and I researched several properties knowing I wanted to return for sure, got the bug on about the third day! If you like a small property with no bar/restaurant on site, quiet atmosphere, located near the airport, and not a large group of fellow guests to interact with then Belmar meets those requirements. If you enjoy eating a meal on-site without having to grocery shop or cook it yourself and would prefer a larger mix of travelers to dive/snorkel/vacation with and the location of C.D.'s suits you then that is the one! Either way, both are on the beautiful water and town is close. Post your trip report when you get back!!

Just got back from nine days at Belmar and we absolutely loved it. It will be hard for us to stay anywhere else. The view is spectacular and the apt. we stayed in was furnished perfectly. I have only visited Capt. Dons but I would tend to agree with Christin. If you want more social interaction, Capt. Dons is probably a better fit. We met some lovely people at Belmar but it is much smaller than
Dons. Can't go wrong with either place.

Cheryl,

Are you using a travel agent or a dive package broker? If you are not using a dive package broker, I'd suggest you contact worlddive.com (Larry) or caradonna.com who specialize in packages. There are other dive package brokers also.

I've never seen "deals" at Capt Don's as compared to the other specials the brokers have to offer

Thanks, all. Yes, I'm using Divers Direct travel. They have access to airfare deals that I was just unaware of. I had thought that Bonaire was out of our budget this year :-(, but was happy to find that it IS possible! :-D

And now they've thrown Eden Beach into the mix as well.... decisions, decisions...

Cheryl,
We have spent the last two April vacations ('02 & '03) at Capt. Don's. Please see last year's trip report for specifics.

I suppose it's all an individual's taste but Capt. Don's suits us just fine. We enjoy making new friends and like a few (JUST a few) other guests around.
Belmar's units are wonderful...we especially like the top floor units....so open! But we'll return to Capt. Don's next year.....it's HOME!
