We were booked at Divi for 7 nights beginning 19APR (having booked the reservation last October) and were called the evening of 18APR to advise us that we'd been moved to an other facility because they were over booked. I'll not make secret that I was livid but, conveniently, Divi had left the message on our answer machine and it was received too late to discuss the matter with North Carolina (on whom all bad things are blamed!). My wife, in her calming manner, said "Just wait, honey, things will work out". Indeed they did! Divi booked us at Bellafonte, where we were given the choice of the place...and, I might add, a vehicle for the week. Hope we get bumped next year too! As usual, great diving! great food! great sun! And, by the way, Pepe sings as well as playing the saxaphone!

Gerry,
Glad it worked out. So how is the Bellafonte. We saw the place from the outside and it looked like a palace. A little out of place..Am I wrong? Hope so!

Bellafonte was beautiful. So new the dishes still had labels on them! The trade winds took care of the living room and kitchen (full kitchen, by the way). The bedroom was air conditioned. First class! Great diving off the dock. If the price is right, I may consider staying there and booking my dives with Divi on the next trip. Bella didn't yet have any dive accomodations (tanks, refills, etc.) set up yet. I'll try to add some pics tomorrow.

Hello Gerry,
May I ask where the Bellafonte is in relation to the Divi?
How did you get to Bonaire from N.C.?
Thanks in advance,
Diver Dan
(researching for my 2nd visit to Bonaire)

Gerry,
It's hard to beat the Dive Divi boat operation. We did 10 days with them in March they were super. Now we don't know what to do next. Can't seem to book our first choice.. Now the Divi goes and complicates things. Life's tough!

Bellefonte is on the other side of the airport on the road south, just south of Bacholor's beach,in Belnam, before Lighthouse beach on E.E.G. Blvd. We stay at a villa over that way, but we dive with Divi(love those guys!) and split our time between the villa and our timeshare at Divi. A taste of both that way!

Gerry, I booked my next stay on January 2004 at the Bellafonte, after visiting the place last winter. One question worries me, however. What about the planes? The Bellafonte is almost directly under the flight path to the airport, and I am quite worried about the late night-early morning KLM flights. Any trouble sleeping?

Michael,

We stayed at the Bellafonte late last year, and while it is nearly directly under the flight path, the noise did not diminish the great time we had.

I never noticed the early morning flights, I think my wife woke up once, just for a minute or so. Didn't notice any late night flights at all.

Diver Dan,

I fly RDU-ATL-MTB-BON. Leave RDU at 5:55am arrive BON by 3pm same day. I use my Delta miles.
Delta and Air Jamaica are code shares. IMHO this is the best way to go.
