I was wondering if anyone could recommend a hotel for March 1-8 for 2 people. I've contacted some hotels and these places still seem to have availabilies: Eden Beach, Ocean View Villas, The Great Escape, and the Sand Dollar. My boyfriend and I are most interested in snorkeling, so we're looking for a place that is either on or else in close walking distance to a beach with good snorkeling. We are looking for someplace safe that doesn't cost a lot of money. Any thoughts?

I have dove and snorkeled both Eden's Rubble and Bari Reef in front of Sand Dollar many times over the years. I have to admit Bari reef is a bit more interesting.

Regarding where to stay, if you have not already, do a key word search on each place and be ready to read a lot of great reviews. I am sure no matter where you and your boyfriend stay you will enjoy yourself.

Good luck in your search and welcome to the Bonaire Talk family.

Check out the condos at LIon's Dive. They're right on Bari reef; it's a really nice, small place.

Another benefit of Lion Dive is that in addition to having what I thought was Buddy Reef right out front, you have Bari Reef (San Dollar) to the south and LaMachaca reef( Capt. Don's) to the north. All of these sites are great. For a complete afternoon or morning of snorkeling you could enjoy all three without driving anywhere else.

I LOVE Ocean View Villas. It is romantic, serene, restful, immaculate and so convenient to all. This is a great moderate/budget option.

If you prefer a resort hands down it's Sand Dollar...

!

Thanks for all of your input! We finally decided to stay at Ocean View Villas after doing some key word searches and checking out some websites. It seemed to fit what we were looking for perfectly.

Now I'm really getting excited for the first week of March, especially since its been freezing cold in Tennessee for the past few weeks!

Beth,

I have been at Tim and John's place though not as a guest of the apartments. The house and grounds are very nice.

The rates of the apartments are awesome. Their car rates are also in order - go with the pick-up versus a car.

Plus you are close to some great snorkeling sites.

Have fun.
