After getting married in Jamaican we are intending to spend a week in Bonaire relaxing and windsufing(?), early March.

Various options for accomodation are apparent: best response so far is from Kon tiki. Does anyone have any comments about it? Would one want to spend part of a honeymoon there or is it more low key / windsurfer atmosphere?

What a great idea! I am a windsurfer so hope my comments are helpful.

I have sent many clients/guests to Kontiki as well as having stayed there myself. It is magical over in Lac Bay. The property is low key indeed, very well run and very quite. The upstairs rooms have super balconies with views of the bay and the outback (loras fly all around..magical). There is a great restaurant on site and again, the owners are wonderful.

If you want glitz and glamour, Kontiki is not. If you want quiet and restful as well as being close to sailing, it's perfect.

Annie

Richard, we are windsurfers also. Where you stay depends on what you like. If you tell us what your are looking for, we could probably be of more help. Kon Tiki is quiet and laid back. We have not stayed there. You would need a car and still would have to drive to windsurfing. Most activities are on the west coast. There really are no bad choices on Bonaire only what will fit your personalities best. We will also be there in March. Good luck with the wedding and hope to see you windsurfing.

Richard,
My wife and I did the same thing as you except we went to Bonaire first for a prehoneymoon (and unwind) before our wedding in Jamaica! Loved it!!!
I don't know anything about you two but let me just say that you may want to check out Sorobon Beach Resort (http://www.sorobonbeachresort.com) right on Lac Cai and immediately next to Jibe City windsurf center. It's a very lo-key place, very nice cottages with kitchen, great beach and stunning water, on-site restaurant (also not far from Kon Tiki), TRULY romantic. It is however a NATURIST resort! This means that there are nekkid folks walking around. Now I don't know about you but I really don't give a rat's a** about that (niether does my wife). What we loved was the absolute beauty of the place and the fact that we could take a dip in that beautiful water sans speedo anytime we wanted. SOOO relaxing! We've been back twice and wouln't consider anywhere else on island (sorry everybody else!). You do need a car though if you want to dive or go into town on a regular basis. Read some other reviews here: http://caribbean.wheretostay.com/property/053-reviews.html I think there's also some archived posts on this site in the accomodations section you could check out too. PS-I'm NOT a saleman or travel agent for them!!! Oh yeah, if you DO pick this place, ask for unit #30 if available (29 2nd best)--surrounded by water on 3 sides! Absolutely spectacular!
