I stayed at Sunset Beach around 10 years ago. We loved the beach. Buddy Dive sounds pretty good, but I love to snorkel, and I have a camera. I like to be close to the fish to get the best shots. I read that the water is fairly deep to snorkel. Would I like Buddy Dive? Also what is water temp? Is a shorty appropriate? How close is the grocery store? How much is a can of soda? I remember it being very expensive. Does Buddy Dive have refrigerators? Is there fast food in Bonaire?

Hi Lori!

We stayed at Buddy this past September, and we're going back in November.

The grocery store is about 5 minutes away in town. Yes, they have refridgerators. Bonaire is fairly expensive, but it's not THAT bad. There is a KFC and Subway and another local fast food place all are in town.

You can snorkle off off the Buddy pier, or drive to any one of the sites around the island. Buddy offers a great "Dive and Drive" package which includes a rental truck with our room. I'm sure that you can opt out of the diving portion without a problem. We chose to do shore diving only, and they credited us for the boat dives.

It's a great place to stay, everyone is very freindly and helpful.

I hope this helps!

Renee

January, I would have to have a full 3 mil suit. But I get chilly in 84 degree water.

Lori:

Buddy's is a great place to stay. Been there several times.

They do have refridgerators. I think some are small and some are closer to our standards. Ask Buddy Dive this questions as each room likley to be different.

Soda is expensive, along with beer.

Please do not go all they way to Bonaire to have fast food. Some places have faster service and lighter menues if that is what you mean. But no McDonalds or Burger Kings, thank god.

Check out Buddy Dive at buddydive.com. email them, they are generally very helpful in answering questions.

Good Luck

Take a look at Sand Dollar. They are right next to the old Sunset Beach. They have very complete studio, one, two and three bedroom condo, all with very complete kitchen. Bari reef right out front has some of the greatest fish life. Small grocery store right on the grounds. We're partial to Sand Dollar, we own a unit there.
