my husband and i are coming to bonaire 10/4 for about a week primarily to wind surf...i am not sure about the accomodations...i understand there are places at lac bay...we dont particularly want the naturalists resort...i am looking for clean, nice views, comfortable...easily available to windsurf...do we need a car? would we be better off closer to town and driving?...any input would be helpful...thanks

We are also windsurfers and opt for staying closer to town. It is only a short drive to Lac Bay and a car is necessary or in our case pickup truck. It is easier to snorkel, shop, get gas, and go out to eat when you stay on the western side of the island. Happy sailing. Corney

The closest non-naturalist accommodations to Lac Bai are probably at Kontiki - see http://www.bonairelodging.com/kontiki

Does anyone know if the beach and fascilities of the naturist resort are open to non-residents? Maybe for a price?

Yes, I think it is $15. Beautiful beach, bar and restaurant. Very friendly people! Highly recommend it.

I meant "naturist" in my message, not "naturalist". Sorry :-)
