we are travelling to bonaire over christmas and are trying to finalize where we will stay. a few places still have some availability (eden beach, sand dollar, belmar, lighthouse townhouses, etc). since we have two children (7 & 9) we are interested in a place that 1) has good snorkeling off the beach 2) has a reasonable sand beach, with some sand in the water so you can wade in without cutting up your feet, 3) a nice swimming pool 4) clean, 2 BR condo. any comments on the above choices?
thanks,
bruce

I prefer Divi but unfortunately, they do not have 2 bdrm. It has all the other amentities that you requested (including small kitchen). Effeciency rooms have 2 double beds and fold out couch...no T.V. in the effeciency rooms.

Sand$ is our choice; the beaches are small, but sandy. And, the new dive facillities and dock are just about finished!

Belmar is very nice but does not have a beach. They have a dock with ladder into the water.

Bruce, the Plaza Resort has what you are looking for. We will be there over Thanksgiving for our fifth stay there.

Try the Divi Flamingo Resort. Nice pools for the children. Beach is small like all of them on Bonaire but it is nice and sandy. All the kids were having a blast in the pools and on the beach. Seemed to be more of a family resort.

Sand Dollar pier is just finished and includes 2 stairs for access to the water areas. (pictures at http://www.sanddollarbonaire.com Pool is nice and near the restaurant. they have an Ocean's Classroom for kids which teaches snorkeling and fish ID. Lots of 2 BR condos (large) with kitchens. Do rent a car and go see the Donkey Sanctuary, the windsurfing area, and the park. Your kids willl have a great time.

Just got back from Bonaire last night, very blue today, is this what PBD is?

Plaza is what I would recommend. It has a great sandy beach and pool with childrens area that is small. The snorkeling is great and calm water too. The resort is larger than we usually choose but we loved it because it had all the ammenities and best beach we found.

Have a great trip, we sure did.

Feeling PBD BIG TIME. I think Michael Gaynor (whom I am sorry I didn't get to meet while there) said it best, "Bonaire has a magic about it". Bonaire is an awesome island and we didn't get to do all we wanted to do for lack of time. We feel are trip was unfinished, yes we are planning are return trip.
