My husband and I are planning a trip to Bonaire in May of 2003. We will be traveling with our two boys, 3 and 5. Which diving accomodations would you suggest and why? Do any resorts offer kids camps, babysitting services or can we hire a nanny to play with the kids while we dive?
Thanks for your help!

LIsa:

We took our 5 year old to Buddy Dive last March.
We hired a Nanny type babysitter through Buddy Dive. It was a complete success. Email Buddy Dive and ask them about hiring a Nanny/Babysitter.

The other option is to bring one with you. If the school year was not a problem, a teenager usaully would work out pretty well.

Our 5 year old did the scuba on the surface thing. It is called "Sassy". He now wants to move to Bonaire. Email at dflook@wagnerflook.com or answer here on this forum. I will give you details, etc. I actually posted a trip report last March that showed us and the Nanny. I can post some of the same pictures again, if you are interested.

Anyhow, we had a great time. We had been to Bonaire may times prior, but never with a kid. It was probably our most memorable trip.

Good luck and feel free to ask questions.

Dave

Check out Caren's website at www.seandiscover.com

Beware...your children may want to move in with her. She is awesome. They learn so much in her class. I don't know what the minimum age limit is but if you email her I am sure she'll let you know.

Check out Sand Dollar. They have large condos with kitchens, a/c in bedrooms and all units face the sea. Good breezes too. They have a children's program which takes them to the pool and has a place for games, snacks etc. I think you have to be 7 for the SASSY program, but ask. The suggestion of taking along a teenager is a good one as well
