I have been waiting to see when the Sorobon Beach Resort would be updating their website to reflect the dramatic changes which have taken place there since the new owners took over. The new website is glossy but not too informative.

The website does not even mention the fact that the management had planned to make the resort Naturist for the slack-wind time of Sept-December each year. I suppose that means that even that concession to the loyal naturist clientele that has built up over the years has been abandoned in the interest of their new business model!

I am afraid that this all means that the halcyon days of naturism at Sorobon that I have come to love over the past 10 years have formally come to an end...

I see that a lot of this has been discussed in the ongoing thread from May...

Over the last few years, I felt the windsurfers were always edging closer and closer. Last year I worried a collision might occur, surfer into walkers..As it was I wasnt comfortable walking out while the surfers were zipping past, so it seems like the writing was on the wall.

The windsurfers have always been nearby - I don't see any change there. Walking out to the reef, for example, has always involved sharing the water with windsurfers.

Keith, the new website does mention the "naturist only" period, but strangely only in the "Daily Rates" section. I think this is probably just an oversight, because the website (although graphically attractive) is rather poorly constructed.

I'm just amazed that they think windsurfers are going to pay naturist rates to stay in such an isolated spot.

I dont agree I feel the last few years ...at least "when" we were there, I did see a change..there were more of them. but I do agree the windsurfers have always been nearby..?? Im not sure Id use the the word sharing, as they fly within 10 feet of me at something near 20 miles an hour.. Too close to me, perhaps not to you..

It seems that the new owners' initial promise to allow naturism for 3+ months of the year has been ditched. The latest newsletter says it's now only going to be 4 weeks! And in September - the worst month for weather.

I saw that too. Sept 3 to Sept 30. That is a far cry from the promise that they have been promoting for the past year. No wonder their new website has almost no mention of naturism.

With this news I think we can officially declare naturism dead at the Sorobon.

They must be planning on a lot of one time customers. I don't see many windsurfers as repeat customers.
