Can anyone give advice/opinions on any 2-bedroom condo or villa accomodations that are on the water and near good snorkeling? (It seems that there will be SEVERAL good snorkeling locations!!)

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Debbie

Well.... after reading more postings on this newsgroup, I'm not sure how MANY good snorkeling locations are left after the storm! It sounds like the fish are there, but coral and beaches sound questionable.

I'd appreciate a realistic assessment of snorkeling opportunities near any lodging recommendations (it still sounds like Bonaire has a lot to offer).

Sand Dollar has 2 BR kitchen equipped condos on the water with ocean views. the snorkeling right in front of Sand Dollar is very good. Fish are all there tho the coral in the tope feet took a beating. there are stil 100 or more horse eye jacks undeer the SAMUR (Thai junk) and lots of fish around the jetties. The dive shop or Samur will take snorkelers on trips to some untouched areas. Compard to any areas of the Caribbean, Bonaire still has an abundance of fish and coral. Try it. And Sand Dollar is offereing a stay 6 nights get 7th night free.

Dear Debbie
We have a town house directly on the beach in the lighthouse beach resort . I cannot tell you personnally how the storm affected the snorkeling as I have not snorkeled since october , however it used to be great and I doubt it has changed . If you would like more info look at my site :http://www.homestead.com/bonairebeachhouse/index.html or contact me at anniejul@juno.com

Hi Debbie,
There are a lot of great villas and cottages for rent through SunRentals Bonaire.

The snorkling is still wonderful here!

Annie mentioned her place right on the water. We were there in late December and early January. Snorkeling, in the shallows, is best over on Klein, or northern end. The condo is ideally located..away from noise, close to the airport and downtown. And, the condo is COMFORTABLE. Two a-c bedrooms, each with a bath, upstairs, a bath downstairs, a kitchen and a living area. Only 20 feet to water's edge. I highly recommend it.

Several years ago I stayed at a hotel on Sunset Beach (next to the Sand Dollar). Last year, I noticed this hotel was closed. Has it re-opened?

No and it will be quite a while before any property replaces it. The last deal was cancelled a few weeks ago...anyone want to buy a resort?

Too bad the plans fell through, the property and location and beach are good, though it needs alot of money to fix it up, stayed there when it was the Bonaire Beach and there was a casino there, 1986(?)
