Greetings Bonaire talkers!
Until a few weeks ago, I had never even heard of Bonaire, but after reading all about it, I am almost falling in love with a place I haven't been yet!

My fiance and I are looking to honeymoon in Bonaire around Christmas. The best deals we have found so far came from Eden Beach and Captain Don's. We are not divers, but we want to explore the island and have some adventures, as well as kick back and relax.

I would appreciate advice on which place might be better suited for us. My impression of Captain Don's is that it's all about diving, and I don't want to be overwhelmed by the dive factor. Eden Beach looks nice, but I just don't have a good idea of its ambience. Is either resort within walking distance of Kralendijk? It's hard to tell from a map.

Thanks everybody!!

Colleen,

I've never been to Eden Beach but we went to Captain Don's for happy hour and dinner a couple of times, we also met some people that was on the plane ride over with us and they wanted to show off there place and it was VERY nice.

The crowd was young and a it had a party atmosphere. Wish we would have stayed there.

Ida

if you want to be walking distance to town, consider Divi Flamingo...Capt Don's is a nice place but it is north of town...not walking distance...all of the resorts have diving, bars etc

If you have a rental car it's no be deal. Which you will need to see all the beautiful places.

Bonaire is a incredible place. My wife and I love it so much we are thinking about buying a place there.

But I think you should be aware that it is a very laid back place and like no other Carribean destinations we have been. If you are looking for a party place, this might not be for you. It is very diver oriented.

Not near as many resorts, clubs shops etc. And no true sand beaches to talk of, all coral. Except for 1 at the southern end.

If you are looking for a laid back, arrid and beuatiful island go for it. congtats on your upcoming wedding

Colleen, See my trip report "An Innkeepers Trip Report - April 15th, etc.". We loved Captain Don's and there was a mix of Divers and non-divers in attendance the weeks that we were there. As far as walking distance to town... we walk a lot and enjoyed the walk to town just for exercise BUT a rental car is the way to go no matter where you stay if you enjoy exploring and seeing the entire island.
