I'm staying at Blachi Koko...arriving on July 4th. Anyone heard anything good, or bad, about the place? Too late to change, but just curious what to expect!

Thanks!!

we've heard nothing but good things about it. small, clean, close to town. you can walk into town in about ten minutes.

There is construction going on right now at the intersection where the Bonaco gas station is located. Traffic is being detoured to the road that runs right past Blachi Koko. I'm using Carib Inn for my tanks, which is a few doors down from Blachi Koko, and I have noticed a lot more traffic since construction began. It is not unbearable, but I thought I should warn you just so you don't think it is on a quiet little street. I've never been in it, but it looks nice from the outside.

Lindsey,
Stayed there in March and its a wonderful place, with great owners. Really liked Laetitia and Matthieu. Laetitia was expecting their first child several weeks after we left so there should be a new addition to the family :-).
Only downside was there were an incredible about of mosquitoes then. We had always stayed further up north and I don't know if that matters but bring spray. They do provide some but be prepared although that was then things maybe different now. We were diving with Carib Inn so was very convenient. Place was new and clean and for most part very comfortable. The road I am told is busy but I must be a sound sleeper didn't notice. another couple that was staying at the time raved about the place and are staying there again next year so they said. That's pretty high praise.
enjoy and give my regards to Laetitia and Matthieu.

That stinks about the construction bit! I am prone to bug bits so I plan on bringing lots of spray and some citronella candles for the inside. I'm very anxious to arrive! I read that Laetitia and Mattheiu met on Utila, which is ironic becuase the couple we are going with we met on Roatan. Hope to see their new family addition! I will let them know you said hello!

Lindsey,
They will have bug stuff there but you are wise to bring your own and alot of it :-). Once I caught on to the little buggers I was fine but it took a few bites to wake up to the idea. I always bring bug spray.

I am planning a trip to Bonaire, I have been to Bonaire on several occasions but this will be an extended stay maybe a month at least. So does anyone know of or have information about a nice place to stay. The dive resorts may be two expensive since I maybe be by myself. Thanks RBWhitt

Richard, try Bonaire Oceanfront Apartments. They have a good deal for 1 b/room places, and they are all Oceanfront with a good view. Diveshop on site with great diving personel! Sun Rental runs the property, and offeres free breakfast at two different restauants on the Island. The house reef is a hidden jewel! My wife found a seahorse in 15fsw infront of BOA!
