Hello. I've been reading the site for a couple weeks now. I am trying to decide between the black durgon and golden reef inn. Any suggestions.. I am having a really hard time making the final choice.

We will be diving with bruce from carib inn (most likely) because I am going to get certified during the week and his class looks like it will work best for me.

Thanks!

Hi Kellie & welcome..Wouldn't it just be easier however to stay at Carib Inn? Were they filled up?
Black Durgon is on the water so if that's important that would be the logical choice. If not, GRI has gotten many favorable reviews.

Welcome to BT, Kellie. You will not go wrong at either place. I love diving the Small Wall (Black Durgeon), but I also love Liz and Ed at GRI. Heck, flip a coin.

Both are clean, maintained, inexpensive properties with good reputations. The main edge that Black Durgon has is waterfront.

Welcome to BT Kelli,

I agree with Vince as far as staying where you are going to get certified. With that said however, I have stayed both inland, and on various waterfront properties at one time or the other. All were very acceptable. Pick your price point, and go for it!

I would suggest that you do your course work before going down to get certified. You can do it online.

We just got back from Bonaire last week, and my husband got certified by Rick right at Black Durgon, where we stayed. The diving right off the dock is fantastic, and Small Wall is a real treat. It is my understanding that Rick may be leaving Black Durgon at the end of the month (which will be a REAL loss), but if you are going before then, you may want to think about getting certified at Black Durgon by Rick and staying there. Rick is an excellent instructor, very patient and safety-conscious, and an all-around fabulous guy. I hope that he and Rona decide to stay on island if not at Black Durgon.
